Blake's Dwarf Crossbowmen February List (312pts)
Wow, after the mulligan, This month sure seemed to go by quick. I'm posting images of my first unit of crossbowmen. I'm on the deadline, so quick and dirty photos. But 24 crossbowmen at 13 points a piece is 312 points.
By the Warhammer Armies Lists these are a required unit, so I'm building towards the full army. I did get some paint on some other figures, the other crossbowmen, the goblobber and I'll be using them month when I get them done.
But here is the 24 dwarfs

Kober's Expeditionary Force - Hold my beer (260pts).
Bugmans' Beer Guards
Points: Crossbowmen 260, Baggage train 0
To inspire his troops Bugman has send a cart laden with a medium size barrel of ale.
An Army travels on its stomach. Dwarves travel on a full tankard.
With the addition of a unit of crossbowmen, the Expeditionary force has the range to inflict heavy casualties to the Green skins.
Ross' Darkness falls (mulligan)
It's been a busy month for me and so I haven't been able to find the time to put paint to model. My job is to sculpt and it tends to overlap into hobby time or any sort of free time. So when I am behind, I miss out on everything else.
I was intended to have a crack at the models on Tuesday night, but our street suffered a power cut in the early evening, so I indulged in the luxury known as sleep.
Fortunately I have a fixed game night, so I do get to game at least once a week. I thoroughly enjoyed using all my painted Undead in a battle of Kings of War this month and intend to continue doing so as the army gets less grey.

Nathan's January Slann (218 pts)
Well I made it - just. Another mixed lot of slann this month as painting figures from different units helps me from getting bored. I just need to remind myself from time to time what I need to have done by the end of the challenge for my force to actually fit the Warhammer Armies list! Anyway points wise this is what I finished:
- giant spider 45 points
- Slann beastmaster 12 points
- Slann on cold one - 33 points
- 2 venom tribes - 24 points
- 2 spawn bands - 20 points
- 3 lizardmen with two handed weapons - 72 points
- 1 warrior priest - 12 points
All up 218 points worth. I also painted up a 40K slann which I can use as an animal handler as the figure is holding an axe but I won't claim him. Anyway here they are:

Hi all,
I had a little better run this month and actually finished my figures a bit ahead of time for a change. I even painted an extra mini just to complete a unit...and to pad my numbers a bit in an effort to avoid another round of mockery for coming in slightly short on my point tally like last month...
Here is the group shot of the figures I finished for the month...

Tom gratiously takes his mulligan
2018 sucks. I haven't been sober enough to paint in January. Impress me with the shit talking people!!
Jeff's Dark Elves for January (242 points)
The Company of the Gilded Skull
20 Dark Elf Warriors with hand weapons and shields.
Richard's The End of the Line
This is the last month that I'm going to be posting my stuff as part of the OWAC. After last months Mulligan I've made fair progress on the Dwarfs, another 11 Clansman, ignoring that there are 2 standards in there, and the Battle Wright, with his Champion Consort and his personal banner bearer. I also made progress on the Stone Thrower proxy, until I realized that points are for the crew not the machine in WHFB3, only 30 not the 108 I was thinking it was. Some of these aren't quite done done, so this is what would have been, not what is.
So this months total would have been:
1x Dwarf Battle Wright Shield, Heavy Armour, for 197 points

1x Dwarf War Forger (Champion Consort) Shield, Heavy Armour for 132 points

Mustafa’s A Tale Of Two Brothers. (367 points)
Frundi and Brundi, twin sons of Grundi, are infamous throughout dwarfdom for being responsible for the fall of Kor Darahl, the once prosperous Dwarven trading settlement on the banks of lake Skellik.
While on guard duty one night, Frundi had suggested a small wager to help pass the time. He bet his brother that he could skip a stone across the nearby lake further than him. Not one to refuse a challenge, least of all from his younger brother ( 3 minutes and 27 seconds younger!), Brundi eagerly accepted.
Brundi got up from his stool, grabbed a stone, and sent it spinning across the lake. One, two, three, four skips! He confidently sat back down and poured himself a celebratory ale. His confident smile soon turned to a stony grimace however as Frundi’s throw easily surpassed his.

Qrab's Chaos: The Dog Brothers (218 pts)
Greetings!
Another month and another increase in my painting output. For January I painted 10 whole models! (Just never you mind that 8 of those models are chaos hounds).
One option from the 3rd Edition Chaos list that I've always liked is the Beastmasters with Chaos Hounds. Back in the days when I was scouring eBay, I managed to pick up two of the Marauder Miniatures Beastmasters and their Hounds, as well as a bunch of the original (if somewhat smaller) Citadel Chaos Hounds.
When it came time to put together a list for this challenge, it was a no brainer for it to include some Beastmasters. As it happens, 2 Animal Handlers with light armor and 8 Chaos Hounds costs 218 points. Because two or more Beastmasters and their pack can join up, this month's "unit" gives me some flexibility; I can deploy them all as one unit, or split them into two smaller units if needs be. And, with both the handlers and the hounds having T4 and W2, even the small units are relatively durable.
Unfortunately, when I was prepping & basing the models for the challenge, I neglected to position them so they could be ranked up, so for the time being I'd deploy them separately. I have about 10 hounds spare, so there's a project for another day.
To my knowledge, Marauder Miniatures weren't given names like many of the old Citadel models were, so I had to improvise for these two handlers. Because both handlers are the same model, I figure they must be brothers ... the Dog brothers. First up is Iyan and his pack:

Rochies Skaven - Silent but deadly (Jan-205pts)
Hello!
So here we are now at month three, that's flown in hasn't it? Unfortunately, the festive season seems to have claimed some of our brethren, but may they rest peacefully knowing that their skulls will have pride of place in the giant codpiece party at the end of the final month!

Brennan and Bob's Bounders (211pts)
Bob's Bounders, a selection of goblin cavalry for the discerning general....
This month the Old Snailcrusher is joined by his mates, Bob's Bounders. The scouting force of the hoard. Riding there mangy, flea-bitten mounts recklessly toward their foe and howling at the moon as they unleash a torrent of small weedy arrows while praying that the shear smell of their approach will prevent their foe from taking the charge.

Death to the Dryskins No More...
... or at least for a while. I contacted Iannick a few days ago to let him know I'm withdrawing from the Old World Army Challenge and promised more info for a blog post.
At the start of this month, I painted forty models in seven days.
None of them were Slann.

Iannick's Zrazoig, Fang and more Doom (228pts)
It does not seem to bother them than their chances of survival are low, but then only the most crazed Goblins would want to be propelled in the air anyway. These Goblins are known as Doom Divers, although it is usually for other (saner) goblins to call them "Bat Wings Loonies". In the dirty, brutal and often painfully short life of a goblin the chance of swooping through the air and smashing right through their enemies is just too good to miss. The Doom Divers know that the ultimate excitement of diving through the air is at high speed is well worth the considerable risks. Though it is a sad way for a Goblin to go, it is infinitely more better than to die an ignoble death by the hands of a hungry Troll.
The first submission of January is Zrazoig, the almighty Shaman, and his trusted sacred spider, Fang the hairy.

Andrea’s Army General and two further Wardancers (205pts)
Hi Folks!
This January force is 205 points worth and include the army general, on steed, and two wardancers.
The general was one of my first wood elf minis, part of the force I used to play in the 4th/5th edition, back in the ‘96. I only changed the steed.
It was originally an unbarded steed, as it can be expected from a light and swift army like that of forest folk. However, I was impressed by the art drawing of a wood elf general on the army book, whose steed wears a magnificent barding. So, this time I decided to provide the barded steed to match that drawing. Here is the result!

Anthony's Beasts of the Blue Serpent Clan (195pts)
While it has become prevalent amongst marauding tribes, in truth the Cult of the Blue Serpent has found sympathizers even amongst seemingly normal members of society. For there will always be those amongst us who wish for nothing more than to see the world burn. However, in the Realms of Chaos, it is no small wonder that beastmen form a significant portion of the Serpent god's followers and they are second in number only to marauding thugs. Disfigured, mutated and abhorrent in every way, beastmen of the Cult wait in fervent anticipation for the wakening of the Serpent god when the world of the righteous will be brought to its knees and annihalated in one final act of contempt.

Lissanne's High Elf Tower of Snow/Swords of Hoeth (208 pts)
10 Swords (16 each), including standard bearer, musician and champion (+48 pts)
'There too were the folk of the Pillar and the Tower of Snow. and both these kindred were marshalled by Penlod'- the Book of Lost Tales vol 2. the Fall of Gondolin.
Another of the 12 Houses of Gondolin, Swords of Hoeth as the Tower of Snow.
The champion 'Penlod the Tall' is half a head taller than the other rather tall figs, so is a accurate figure to be unit champion. I decided I didn't like the look of the shields I had put on the test figure after all, so these have no shields.
Millsy's Empire: Duke Leopold von Bildhofen (157pts)
G'day Guys,
Here's my January submission, Duke Leopold von Bildhofen of Carroburg mounted on a pegasus. 157 points of feathery, fanciful goodness to take me past the 600 point mark.
It's a lovely model but was a right bugger to paint and assemble. Being an all metal model I elected to do the rider and saddle separately to make things less likely to topple over or get damaged. Whilst that certainly helped with the painting, assembly and gluing caused me a number of headaches with glue spills and a repaint of part of the pegasus. Such is life!

Thomas's High Elves: Lord Teflon 216 Pts
January is fast upon us. I was going to go with the bowmen but decided I was on a roll with the horses I would knock out my general this month.
November & December Progress report
Our statistician in chief Jeff Allen was nice enough to produce this handy chart of all the challenger's progress; the green is what has been done, and the number on the grey is what's left to do. Slowly but surely we are all getting there!
Also to all Challengers : January marks the mid-point of the challenge. We encourage all challengers to post a pic of their force to date along with their January submission.
Keep painting,

December done!
Second month of the challenge, a bit more difficult yes. We had a few mulligans because of the Holidays (maybe start in January next time?) and we added a few names (may they rest in peace) to our Field of Bones (right side list, below the challengers).
But we also saw more awesome entries, lots of efforts and sweat and blood being spilled to reach that dealine!
CONGRATULATIONS! You now have around 400pts of figures amassed in 2 months! That's AWESOME!
And now we move on to cold and sad January, where the only thing that will sustain us are alcool and miniature painting. BRING IT ON!

Nathan's Slann wizard and friends (209pts)
Well as the post notes I did a wizard for December. For something a bit different I did a wizard mounted on a cold one rather than on a litter which is the other option for slann wizards that are level 2 or greater (level 1 wizards in 3rd edition are pretty useless). I used a spare warrior priest as a lizard as I like the figure, it is unarmoured and fits onto a cold one pretty easily once one removes the slotta tab (well as easily as the actual cold one riders do). A level 15 wizard on a cold one is 209 points on it's own so that would have been enough for the month. I thought that was a tad too easy so I painted up a few pygmies which I want to use as an ally contingent at some stage. Using the 3rd edition army lists gives one 123 points for a wizard; the additional figures values depend on what you use them as - even if one picks the most expensive options they don't add up to much! Something I can work out later. Anyway here they are:
Victor´s Mulligan - Night Goblins' Holidays
Hi mates!!!
Unfortunately, I have been unable to paint anything at all during December, so I have been forced to use my Mulligan.
The reasons for this have mainly been personal issues (family's health issues, last minute travel needs, and Xmas preparations with all its stress and chaos).
The Night Globins will be back to the painting table in January, though!!

Chris’s chaos dwarfs declare a mulligan
December has been a bad month for the chaos dwarfs. While I managed to get my next 200 points assembled, based, and primed no actual painting took place.
Since I don’t have any pictures of painted models to show off this month I’ll post a picture of the main reason why I’m taking my mulligan. These chaos hounds have taken up a lot of my time recently.
Since I don’t have any pictures of painted models to show off this month I’ll post a picture of the main reason why I’m taking my mulligan. These chaos hounds have taken up a lot of my time recently.
Best laid plans of Wee Sleekit, Cowrin, Tim'rous Beasties and Short People
Mulligan, Schmulligan
So December began with a plan, an easy one to reach the 200 points of necessary dwarfs. I had done 16 of the Clansmen for November so merely finishing that unit would get me past the 200. I had time off from the 22nd, what could go wrong?
I had assumed that I'd get about half the unit finished before Christmas and the remainder after that.
So here is a list of things not to do instead of painting 12 dwarfs, a musician and a standard bearer:
1) Reorganize your workspace completely, adding table space and redoing all the shelves. Necessary, and very useful, but took too long,
2) Decide that the dragon that you dropped in November needed to be fixed and put on a more stable base first. Necessary before any bits got lost, and the fact that a dragon stole time from the dwarfs is symbolic.
Can I claim him as an Emperor Dragon?
3) Change plans. Deciding that I was short of time and that the artillery might be a better investment points wise was a good idea, unfortunately I didn't check it's point value, only 108, not the closer to 200 that I had in mind when I started it. I also then decided the initial colour scheme was a bad one, needs redoing.
4) Decide that taking and processing 450 shots of miniatures and publishing them on the web won't take long.
5) Curse the Republicans for changing the tax laws. Realize that charitable donations needed to sorted in 2017. Spend a day driving round to donate a recent dining room table and eight chairs being told that they only take perfect chairs without scratches. Doesn't anybody recover anything these days?
6) Get sick. Never recommended, but wasting two days basically lying around doing no painting didn't help.
7) Change plans twice more. Given that I needed at least 8 dwarfs to go with the "stone thrower" and I had 4 done, bar the shouting... decide to do the General for 197 points and cheat (in my mind) by claiming that as a month's work. I then spent too long deciding which guy would be the best General (front left) only realizing too late that I had already done him last month. Think that a female General would be fun (front centre), and would annoy a few people, but then having finished her, decide she was too plain to be the General, even with a puritanical back story. Pick another model (front right) and do that, then realize that his shield boss had been cut off and it would take too long to fabricate another before dinner on New Years Eve.
At least I have a heads start of January, February and some of March.
Blue's Mad Scramble...December's Wood Elfs 164 Pts
Hi all,
This was a brutal month with a considerable amount of travel for both work and the holidays...time for painting was non-existent for much of the month...and motivation was certainly at a low ebb as well. That said, when I did have the time and energy to paint I still greatly enjoyed working on these excellent Goodwin sculpts and I rest assured that the next several moths of painting will continue to interest me with the variety and detail in all these wood elf figures.
Here is the completed Group (164pts):

Ed's Border Princes Artillery (200pts)
Well that was close. A week ago I was staring down the barrel of a mulligan. There I was a month ago thinking December would be a breeze, all that time off. Didn't really turn out quite like that; too much time spent in the boozer over Christmas.
Anyway, I'm there. This month I've opted for both artillery pieces - a great cannon and volley gun.

Dave's Cold One Knights (210pts)
It is one cold night here in Toronto, and I feel like there is some joke that could be made... in any case, here are my Cold One Knights!
These guys will form the "shock cavalry" of Vakath's Shock Cadre, as they are a hard-hitting and very mobile regiment. Sadly there were no points available for a full command, so the sword-armed trooper is just a mere regiment leader. Nevertheless, Vakath himself will eventually choice this unit and provide it with some solid leadership. Let's take a look at the breakdown:
Tom's Nurgle army (194pts)
This is my chaos sorcerer "Stinkfoot" he is level 10 and 85 points. This is one of my all-time favorite chaos sculpts. I first painted this guy in 1991. It was fun to revisit this model.
