Paul D's May contribution - Goblins, lots of goblins to the tune of 400 points of troops.

Following my decision to assist a friend with his attempt to recreate the large battle shown in the 3rd Edition rule book at this years BOYL, I've gone full on, painting early Citadel goblins, to the point that in my rush I've not taken progress pictures, please forgive me.

First up, C series Archers, from the following ranges

First batch of goblin infantry, from way back when.

Second batch of infantry with first batch, what maybe of interest to some of you - I've added a few chaos goblins and a few early slotta  figures.

Next batch of  goblins

Last group with latter batches of infantry receive a coat of varnish.

All based up and another coat of vanish. A total of eighty figures at roughly five points each gives a healthy total of four hundred points.

Which should take me over the thousand point mark for the challenge.
Catalogue pictures from Stuff of Legends website.
Now off the paint something other than goblins!😂

  1. Sweet jeebus, that is a mighty effort! 80 models in one post has to be some kind record ✨ Mind me asking what varnish you are using please? I imagine your figures see a lot of tabletime, so I guess it must be some tough stuff!
They all look glorious, and as a big block like that - intimidating too!

    1. I imagine it to be the same varnish Nigel Stillman used :)

    2. Yes it was, most of my spare time in May poured into that little lot. As for my preferred varnish - Halfords clear laquer, usually three coats, one at painted, one at basing and another just to be sure.

    1. I certainly am, those have sat for too long in storage boxes waiting their turn for a splash of colour.

  3. That's seriously impressive-enough Rank & File to fulfill the requirements of two seasons in just one month! Do you still need more for BOYL, or is the army complete?

    1. Thanks, I've not done a lot else, since saying I'll help, hence the numbers. To be honest, I don't know the scale of the organiser's intentions, especially if we're on one of the larger tables, so no, the armies not complete, hence I've just painted another twenty five, and have just started another twelve, with only another thirty or so to complete what I have, then we're done with the goblin infantry.

I had no idea this would be at BOYL. Looking forward to seeing it all.

  5. That's a great effort, and it's nice to see so many classic fellas getting painted. Talking of records, I think the most minis I've posted in an OWAC month is 72 or 74 (I'd have to go back and check to be sure) so 80 definitely beats me :)

    1. Who's counting, completing any OWAC is a hard task for anybody.
