Andrea's Teclis & retinue (219 points)

Hi guys,
this month has been quite busy but I managed to reach the end!

I am particularly happy because this month includes, among the others, the mighty Teclis (here in disguise as a 1st level mage). It is among the first miniatures I owned and it remained painted with enamel until the last summer (not very simple decoloring...). I opted for the classic colour scheme, which also fits to the other mage of this army (March post). Needless to say, it was a pure joy to paint it: a very fine sculpt with a lot of details and incredibly characterful. I hope you all enjoy the result, as I do!

The retinue of Teclis is made by two nice Shadow Warriors units. Back in the days, when I played the 4th/5th edition, Shadow Warriors were basically ignored by all High Elves players of my gaming club. I never understood why, because I find them very cool (four of them were bought together with Teclis, more than 20 years ago). Now, I own ten of them and divided in two units: after all, they are scouts and scouts work better in small units.

So, here's the first unit (mysteriously known as "the white shields")

And here's the second unit (enigmatically called "the blue shields")

Last but no the least in the Teclis' retinue, a deadly Repeater Bolt Thrower (the second of this army). I selected a different colors for helm feathers, the sash and accessories, to distinguish from the other one (just in case I manage to play a game...).

Well, this month points: Teclis (as 1st level mage) 59 pts + 10 Shadow Warriors (two units x5 elves each) 110 pts + a Repeater Bolt Thrower 50 pts. Total = 219 points!

So, the last month is approaching and I prepared a few changes to the original army list, with some replacements and a couple of additions. Stay tuned!

Ciao, Andrea

Brendan's Skaven Post for Month 5! (192 points)

Clanrats Go!

I spent this month bulking out my Skaven clanrat unit.  11 more Skaven completed for a total of 92 points.

I would also like to thank Grame from this group as he showed and shared some Skaven banner outlines that he used and I liked!  So I made sure to copy what he did when I got around to my standard bearer for this unit.

Most of my work this month went into designing a movement tray for the models.  I started to slowly elevate the back rows so that I could safely put my fearless leader behind where all the action was taking place like a proper Skaven general.

And here you can see what they look like when they are coming after you!

I made a custom stand for my general in case he left the safety of the clan rats.

And here is is sitting up on his hill:

I then remembered I needed more points, so I painted another rat swarm to continue with the Clan Moulder Theme (100 points).

And finally about 1000 points of my army so far!  It was a lot of fun to take them all out for a photo shoot!

Lissanne's Undead- Zombie Helper! (637pts)

Three Cheers for my third successful OWAC!

In my original planning, I had found 3 wraiths to be used for zombie helper, as zombies are only 4pt models.  They represent 3 former head priests of  temples Dirge the lich destroyed.  I almost didn't need them for points though, but they were a good backup.

Finally! the Catacomb of Terror WQ figures are done, except for a 0pt podium which I will do next month.  Hooray!  Here is Leopold, a L10 necromancer, and his trusty zombie friend Igor.

After last month's problem with the horse and rider that didn't fit, here is the beleagured courier, the star of the Karr-keel rider set on the burnt horse.  The bright colors look better there than the bandito would have!

And here is the bandito who looks great on the death white horse, so win-win!  So two more death riders

Three Zombies of Karr-Keel were finished too, the drummer, the trumpeter, and the sign boy. Monthly goal done. Do zombies even have musicians?  Well, mine do.

I also finished the remaining OSM marginalia, so there are 4 beastmen, and a pair of camp followers.  The bagpipe rabbit doesn't count because it joined my bunny beastmen unit. Here they are with original marginalia.  Unit done!
Donkey vs Snail

Snail knight

Satyr with pig head on butt

and the camp followers

And a surprise-

While looking for more skeleton riders, and finally organizing my figure pantry, I found the other wing to my skeleton dragon!. (But no skeleton riders yet)  So here is Bonecrusher, the skeletal dragon, my big zero point extra of the month.  In 3rd edition WF, it matches absolutely nothing, so zero points.  And having gotten a bit damaged, it needed care and conversion. But another long time lurker finished!

So:

3 wraiths `(150pts each)  450pt
4 beastmen 40 pts
2 Death riders (light armor) (23pts each) 46pts
Leopold-Necromancer level 10       85 pt
4 zombies  4 pts each, 16 pts
Bonecrusher, the undead dragon   0 pts
Total 637 pts

As Dirge's forces move inexorably towards the temple, Leopold the Necromancer raises the undead dragon Bonecrusher from the grave.  The citizens of the city flee in panic!  The temple is hers!  Victory!

This is not the finish for me though.  I still have some Karr-Keel zombies, a death rider and many hobbit zombies to go. So next month as many zombies as I can paint, and likely a big zero point extra!
See if you can guess what it is! (sneak pic)

AdamH’s Month of rest – (239.5 Points)

“Our time together grows short, it seems like just yesterday you stumbled drunkenly into my warren looking to make a name for yourself, now you barely cling to life; I expect to see the last of my brood come forth.

Well I have a treat for you this day, you will get to meet my chief gnasher, the claws and teeth of my army as well as a few more familiar friends, and who knows, if you manage to live long enough you might just get to see one of my crowning jewels.”

So this was the month I thought I would take a bit of a break, I decided to paint a couple of high cost models (three of them in fact that compromise ¾ of the monthly total) however half way through the month I thought I should also probably get started on the pile of Slaves that were waiting for me. So in the end what was supposed to be a low model count month ended up being just as high as all of the others.

We start once again with a few more Gutter Runners, taking my total to ten and a decent unit size to harass warmachines and lone characters on the battlefield:

Also, this month sees another Warpfire thrower, the first of my high point cost models designed to give me a bit of a rest. Although after taking this picture I saw a few areas I missed so I will have to go back and tidy them up before I varnish this one:

Next for the units is again more Slaves, 15 of the blighters making a dishevelled 37.5 points… I have the scheme somewhat down after last month which meant that actually these didn’t take me as long as I thought they would, although I do find their lack of details or colours, part of what makes them slaves, also makes them quite dull to paint. In a 2,000 point army I would probably want to field at least two units of 20 of these so I still have a few more to paint if I expand this army:

And finally, only the second Character choice to appear in the army, a Warlord General. He is technically the lord choice/leader of this force although I believe his strings are being pulled behind the scenes by someone else. Unfortunately, I don’t think we are going to get to meet that particular puppeteer during the challenge but who knows what next year will bring. Anyway, onto the model, classic Skaven sculpt this that I tried to bring a bit of extra colour with some poisoned wind globes, which were also practice for something a little…. larger that may just roll onto the scene soon:

To summarise, this month’s entry is:

Gutter Runners x3, Additional Hand Weapons, Throwing Stars [42]

Warpfire Thrower [70]

Skvenslaves x15 (Inc. Musician) [37.5]

Warlord [90]

Total – 239.5 points

After taking these pictures I put the models away in my small carry case and discovered I have actually now almost completely filled it with painted rats. A great feeling indeed but also means I need to buy more storage.

We are in the final stretch now, just one more to go (technically I have now passed the challenge goal however I like to try and make a big splash in the final month so I am not going to rest until the brood mother sings!

Best of luck to everyone in these last few weeks and I hope all you following along at home are still safe and sound.

JamesG's Feathers and Bears (200 points)

Agnor Njogginsplitter
Some of May's minis were real treats to paint.  This hero was my first RAFM figure and he was a blast.  The depth of the sculpt on the beard really took the paint layers very nicely.  The helm feathers were done in a corvid motif and highlighted dark blue in classic "Wonder Woman's hair highlights" fashion.

We've been sitting on a shelf since 2000; thanks for having us.
Some Foundry viking command are next, to lead one of my spearman units.  I like Brennan's observation that they're just fantasy enough without going too crazy.  That champion must weigh ten pounds on his own...just an enormous dude.  They are surplus from a Foundry army deal I bought about 20 years ago for Warhammer Ancients; it's great to have a reason to finally get them done!

Sounding the horn or drinking from the wrong end? You decide.
Last is some more rank and file for the spearmen, as well as a Foundry musician.  Nothing much here that hasn't been trickling in along the way!

Points for May 2020:

-Agnor Njogginsplitter, Hero of Norsca......65 points
-Champion, musician, and standard............60 points
-Musician and six more spearmen..............75 points

Total: 200 points
