Quin’s Lizardmen of the Black Marsh

From the depths of the blackest swamp in Lustria the vicious lizardmen of Vutha Okarthel hunt. An ancient bloodline, guardians and servants of the hoary black dragon Umbraxakar Urathear. Vargus Yrev the yellow, leads the weak-minded troglodytes on pillages, taking anything with warm blood back to the hell cavern where Umbraxakar Urathear slumbers until it is meal time. Now, some say the lizardmen have been put in a form of hypnosis or mind control to serve Umbraxakar for an eternity, perhaps they live their lives in servitude of a greater lizard- who is to say, what we do know is that the human cattle have certainly been hypnotized into staying within the vicinity of Umbraxakar and fattening themselves up for him. Cold blood brothers Farang Gix and Thurgix Sauriv lead their brethren in aid of their master, stealing halflings and satchels of gold from offshore ships or mutilating any travelers that ventured too near their den of filth- at any rate they are a dastardly bunch.

I’ve always been quite enamored with the work of Tom Meier, Having fairly recently come across this set of lizardmen and troglodytes- I decided to make a force of lizardmen using only Tom Meier’s sculpts- I referred to the WHFB 3rd edition rulebook and got a 1000 point list ready, however due to having to paint 4 units throughout the challenge, I was forced to add another 10 models to the army- since you can only have 20 lizardmen and 5 troglodytes in a 3rd edition slann army I decided the best course of action was to add a unit of either giant frogs, Giant leeches, or slaves, (as I don’t believe Tom sculpted any slann, I decided to go without) scouring the internet for perhaps a compiled list of every Tom Meier sculpt- I was sorely disappointed- I eventually came to the conclusion that he hadn’t sculpted any frogs or leeches (please correct me if I’m wrong) I found a few slaves he had done for Ral Partha, but I think they would look out of place in the army. In the end I decided to go with a unit of 10 slaves, represented by fiend factory cavemen, I intend on eventually adding a few of the fiend factory berserkers for variation to the group and to also make the unit a full 20- I can’t find the credit to the sculptor of these cavemen, if anyone happens to know I’d love to learn a bit more.

To wrap things up here is proof of my tax paid to the overlord- a model from the Citadel Presents: Tom Meier’s Lizardmen Warriors box set.. these models form the bulk of my army and the figure I have chosen for Iannick is a lovely caped miniature used in my army as a low level hero, thank you for having me!

    1. Thanks! I’ve been considering a few options for it so we’ll see what I decide when I get there. I highly suggest adding him to your horde if you find one at a decent price, a beautiful model, not unlike Tom’s other sculpts.
