Filippo's Tactical Squad (324 points)

January 1, 2021

A not-so-young-anymore guy starts painting his first marine for the OWAC, happy to be part of this great competintion and eager to shine in the eyes of the supreme Overlord. The task is quite simple: an ordinary Ultramarine Tactical Squad.

Paints are ready, minis are primed, a full month ahead. Nothing could possibly go wrong, he just need to avoid side projects...

January 31, 2021

A not-so-young-anymore guy is screaming at a bunch of models because the Nuln Oil is not drying fast enough, while he's watching in horror as a pile of miniatures of different side projects is slowly crashing on his desk..

Despite all my effort in screwing everything up right from the begininng, here is my entry for january!

I forgot how difficult was painting these marines, compared to the new ones (with all those sharp edges so easy to highlight..)

The banners are horrible. I wanted to print the images from the old codex, but the banner for the Sergent and Squad leader are not available in colours (something I could have noticed BEFORE the 30th) , so I had to print in b/w and paint them.

I can rest tonight, tomorrow is another brand new month. And I swear, no more distrac.. UHHH LOOK! Bretonnia for Warmaster!

  1. Awesome sauce. It's like a trip back to 1992, everything's on point. Nice touch on the red bolters!

  4. Ouch, right in the childhood!

Excellent job! Mine were Dark Angels; luridly (and badly) highlighted with Snot Green.

  7. Great job - these take me back as they were the first purchase I made when 2nd ed took over from RT in the little group I gamed with back then. I struggled painting them back then and I reckon I would now too like you say. You've certainly done them justice!

  8. So bright, fresh and clean its almost an advert for bathroom cleaning products!! Lovely, lovely job! I agree, the large curved plates are always daunting to paint I think, hence why my Blood Angles still lie in their boxes awaiting the call to arms. Can't wait to see what else of brilliance you can produce from an undistracted month.....
