Blue's Orc Boar Riders...February edition! (148 pts)

Rank & File #2

 Hi all,

Back again this month with another group of rank and file boar riders, a total of six this time...and one is a standard bearer, though his standard is not complete so he will only count as a regular trooper for now.

Once again we have a mix of straight up Marauder Boar Riders mixed with a couple of figures that were intended as infantryman or a chariot crew but which I "adjusted" to make fit on a boar!

And of course, the converted Standard Bearer...this rider was originally armed with a morning star, but it had broken off at some point so he was an easy choice for a conversion.  The banner pole topper is from one of Clam's Ewal Dvergar offerings

My favorite is the archer alternative that came with the Marauder Orc Chariot....he is an excellent archer with cool patchwork armor...and a poisonous lizard that he keeps straped to his chest while he riders.  He is convinced that licking that lizard gives him super powers! ...it does seem to make him fearless in battle so who is to say!?

Here are a few other individual photos

Once again this are mounted mostly on boars from Marauder miniatures but I have also worked in couple more form Clam's excellent Ewal Dvergar range that I like so much.

Ok, here is the break down for the month.

5x Gruntas with Light armor and Bows   -125pts

1xGrunta with Hand Weapon (and not much else!) -23pts

Total Points -148pts

And here is a unit shot with the OWAC production to date! Very exciting to see them all together!

Cheers for now!

  3. Why does your use of the word "adjusted" make me wince...?

Cracking work as ever mate - thought I recognised the charioteer but never noticed his lizard. Nice little touch! I also love the way the standard bearer is brandishing his standard like a weapon - as per the conversion - very Orcy!

I might have to pick up some of Clam's boars as I have a few Grunta's with no rides in the lead pile...

  4. Great work, and thank you for making me aware of Clam's boars. I have a dozen Orc Boar Boyz lined up for next OWAC and no piggies for them.

  5. You could have pushed a little bit more drybrushing on some furs. But overall, nice and clean!

  7. Excellent job as always Chris.

What do you use for the skin tones by the way? I'm planning (maybe) a small 200-250pt skirmish/warbands force for 6th using Heartbreaker greenskins and like your take on it. Is it the Foundry 'Moss' triad?

  10. Just echoing the others to say how great these are, Blue! It's kind of a trip for me to see so many boar boyz with bows as the Brian Nelson sculpts with the ginormous spears were the prominent ones in my youth.
