Nathan’s ogres beat the black dog - rank and file 276 points
Well I just got there. Again. Took two months to do these figures and even then the paint jobs are nothing to write home about. But having said that I’m wrapped to the back teeth that I got these done as the last two months I’ve been ill with severe depression and having these figures to paint has been a nice distraction from other, less pleasant, thoughts. Anyway points wise they are worth 276 points if you count them as having a standard bearer, light armour and hand weapons but don’t count the shields. More than reasonable to ignore the shields IMO given only two figures have them. BTW four of the figures are ogres Bob Olley did for the fantasy warlord game that was released (and was a dud) back in the early 90s. One is a marauder landsknecht ogre. Anyway here they are:
Cool looking ogres and a nice banner! Good job!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your having a bad time of things but you're right to be pleased with how these guys turned out - they look fantastic! Very menacing in black.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you can block those negative thoughts and concentrate on trivial goals like this hobby and the OWAC. It usually helps me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Bob Olley's work, but I've never seen these before. You did a good job with them, especially the really striking banner!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you managed to subdue the black dog. The challenge has been a very welcome distraction for me over the last few months. Stick with it! Can't wait to see some more!
I've been thinking one having a small warband of mercenary ogres with some citadel old sculpts and these ones. However, I've rarely seen them painted like the Olley's trolls.
ReplyDeleteYous are cool, nice to see them at last!. At the end, it is a pleasant distraction. Hope to see the force put together!
Very cool models and you've done them justice. The unit looks fearsome in their dark armour. Love the banner - really characterful. I will probably use it for my O&G army at some point in the future! I hope the painting continues to chase the black dog away - I look forward to your next month's entry!
