Sam's 2nd Ed. Catachans - Hobbits with sniper rifles, hmmm (191pts)

So erm, moving house is hard. Like "holy fuck why are there so many things to do" hard. So last month was a wild card-ulligan level write off and this month was a three day furious painting struggle bus. But, I made it, which is what's important.

So, this time I added a basic command squad with one of my favorite sculpts the bald cigar smoking lieutenant and a additional attachment unit of Ratlings, also a bunch of absolutely stellar sculpts.

The List (Rank & File III):

Command Squad - 95pts

  • Bolter, Mortar team, Meltagun, Plasmagun
Ratling Squad - 96pts
  • 6 ratlings

The Pics:

Cigar and some Gucci sunnies, Legend!

Yup, hobbits with snipers!

For some reason I imagined the the ratlings as being a bit dapper in their own kind of way, so gave them pristine white trousers, collars and cuffs. Undoubtedly not very useful when you are trying to be sneakily camouflaged as a sniper, but neither are bright red guns so what they hey. Also, obligatory tufts and bushes to be added later in the challenge.

Anyhow, next month should be my leader month. Leaving the last month for some vehicles and probably another squad.

Haven't really had much chance to check everyone's entries out recently, so I should be in for a treat with my planned catch-up.

Peace out
Samuel

  2. Nice! I've always liked the ratling snipers - I think they're great models, and they look brilliant all painted up in their finery :)

  4. Love the idea of the Ratling's fussing over their pristine whites - cracking work as ever!

  5. That lieutenant is truly the boss. I always viewed them as having vaguely napoleonic uniforms so the crisp white trousers are a great idea.

  6. These guys were my first 40k army, and you did such a great job on them! Makes me wish I still had them!
