Byron's The Terror of Shadow Weaver! (227 points)

Final Month - rank and file

The Terror of Shadow Weaver!

Shadow Weaver's riders dazzle and assault a column of clanrats.

Scorched Riders [Death Riders w/ light armor x5, 110 points] - After disturbing Tarath and binding him to her will, Shadow Weaver also ensorcelled his riders. She sent these riders forth to scour the countryside near the pass. The riders seem to appear out of the night and pass straight through woods and the rocky terrain. These sudden raids have imposed a reign of terror upon enemies nearby. Rumors of Shadow Weaver's powers are known for many leagues from the pass.

The Second Watch [dark elf crossbowmen x 9, 117 points] - These elves are tasked with the second shift. They stay up late into the night training their keen eyes across the pass. No stealthy rat-thing or slithering goblin can sneak past the sting of their crossbows - at least, so say the reports of the Second Watch. I took their photos before the glue on their grass had even dried.

Scorched Pass Ruins - this month I have added another piece of terrain for the pass. This piece is a ruined stair case. It is made from high density insulation foam, card board from cereal box, sand, rocks, and liquid nails. I wanted the ruins to feel part of the other terrain and the army. I tried to accomplish this by repeating the shape of the battlements from the blockhouse. Like the battlements of the blockhouse, I made sure that the spaces on the stairs could accommodate models so there was some interactivity. Also, I carved a dark elf rune into the side of the base - the same rune found on Kin'Lath's shield to suggest he is connected to the ruins in some way. Stairs can be a thematic piece of terrain. I imagine two heroes fighting up and down the stairs with a final showdown near the top. One shove or misplaced foot and one could fall right off.

And, as a final edition to my army, I created regiment trays. 2 that accommodate a regiment 2x10 for my two crossbow units. 2 that are 4x4 for my slashers and skeletons. and 2 that are 1x5 for my cavalry, though I should have measured these again as they ended up being too long :/ Better than accidentally making them too short I suppose.

  3. The ghostly effects in the bones of the skeletons and the flames look pretty cool, the conversions are nice and look totally like undead dark elves. The additional ruins look cool as always!

  6. Love what you did with those Bob Olley figures. The conversions do a great job fixing the bobblehead problem some of these have (I’ve got them but unpainted).

  7. Love the nod to John Blanche's "Bagrian's Doom" from the Vengeance of the Lichemaster scenario with your opening photograph - superb work! What's not to like - Bob Olley Undead cavalry, those lovely old Fantasy Regiments Crossbowmen and another great bit of scenery - cracking ending to a wonderful army!
