Another month and another mixed batch of figures for my slaaneshi genestealer cult army. I still don’t enjoy painting the purestrain figures to be honest although I did enjoy painting the rest though, especially the hybrids. Those Bob Olley figures just have something to them that I enjoy painting; just cannot figure out exactly why. Might be the odd/alien feel the sculpts have. Anyway here is what I finished for the month:

4 hybrids including one of the old space hulk plastic hybrids
A daemonettes and rogue psyker
The hybrid was an “interesting” figure to say the least. The sculpt is pretty average IMHO and not that fun to paint. I did a very minor conversion of the figure by using some epoxy putty to reduce the length of the figures head as the unmodified figures have these overlong, bulbous heads that I really don’t like. I’m happy with the result although I wouldn’t argue it changes the figure from very average to good; average might be the best one will get with these. And finally here is a pic of some other figures I finished off; skaven for advanced hero quest and a couple of chaos figures to go with the chaos army I painted up for the challenge a few years back:

ReplyDeleteI always struggle to go back and add stuff to previous armies (I can never remember the paint I used and they never look as if they fit in). I'll echo the peeps here, the psyker is a stand out! I have a soft spot for those plastic hybrids, although - as with any genestealer, the arms are always a pain. Yours looks great with the shortened head - hybrids gonna hybrid!
That is one scary bunch of genestealers, I am another admirer of that psyker - looks great! Love the skaven also, they may not count for points but are definitely oldhammer.
