Anthony's wrap up post

Well, 6 months and 1549 points of third edition beastmen later and it's the end of the Old World Army Challenge. Here is my army as it stands:

It has been great to be a part of this experience, and I am impressed by the dedication of my fellow challengers. Heck, the "Tale of Four Gamers" of White Dwarf fame was nothing compared to the magnitude of this challenge and the number of contestants we had.

What did I learn from this challenge?

Well, first and foremost that there is still a lot of love for old models, all over the world. It is  fascinating to me that a group of complete strangers from all corners of the globe could unite in a common 'venue' to share a common interest. Surely, such a thing would have been unheard of even a mere half century ago.

Secondly, that there is something to be said for having deadlines when painting an army. Years ago, my deadline would be the upcoming local tournament. Sadly, I don't play warhammer any more so this mode of motivation is long gone. However, I have discovered new avenues of motivation in its place (the OWAC being one of them) to help pace me in painting my collection. For that reason, should there be a next OWAC, I will be there!

Like my fellow challengers, this 1500 pt army is part of a larger Chaos army. I am painting a Slaanesh faction at the minute, and here are some of the partners in crime:

Last but not least, the Oldhammer pose:

in front of me is my army, blurry in the picture no doubt since it is running towards the foe

Please visit me over at my blog, where I will be posting my progress in the 100% paint challenge until I am summoned again to the next OWAC. Congrats to all, and see you later.

    1. Thanks Lissanne. I suspect that the idea, gaming-wise, is that I'm going to get stomped every time!

  4. This is a great looking army. I also love your Slaanesh stuff. I'll be keeping up with your 100% painted challenge as I stumble through my own. Points for wearing the Oldhammer in the New World shirt.

  7. This is one of the best Chaos armies I've ever seen, no BS! Can't wait to see what the other additions to your army will be.

This may even motivate me to paint up my Chaos army....maybe :)

    Well done!

    1. Thanks, Mr. P. I find that Chaos models paint up so quick, compared to other armies. Let that be your motivation! Oh, and kill, maim, burn etc.

    1. Next Oldhammer event perhaps? As you'll find, my 'playing' usually amounts to just taking models off the table :)

    1. Thanks, Richard! I tried to make a cohesive color scheme to compensate for somewhat rushed individual paint jobs :)

    1. Thanks Andrea. What the minions of chaos lack in fighting quality, they make up for with strength of numbers!
