Honestly this month was a toughy for me. Life threw various spanners in the works and even when writing this post it was a hopeful preempt of the possibility I would make it. Which means if you are reading this, I did! Phew! In summary, I got savaged, and the poor orcs just sat on my workbench looking incrementally less forlorn as the month went on.
But thankfully I made it, so this is what we have for the months pledge:
5 x Savage Orc Boar Boyz inc. standard (150pts)
5 x Savage Orc Boyz with shields inc. musician (51pts)
Painting wise, broadly speaking the scheme is the same. I varied the fur schemes on the boars even more, which I think has come out quite nicely and certainly makes production lining, one of my personal bugbears, a lot more interesting. I actually plan to use the white one for the shaman, but he is still in the bath at the moment alongside the musician, so for the time being a spare rider has taken his seat.

The banner was interesting to make as I don't think I have ever made one before.
I used some thick cardboard and sealed it with PVA. The design is printed from the 4th Ed. armies book, with the final design being a simple merger of two banners. I kept the painting simple and orcy, and finished it up with a blackliner to keep the design looking plucky.

Of note, the basing isn't fully completed on these, I need to stick on the tufts and the flock ala last month, but I like to varnish first and as I barely made the painting, doing the varnishing also was pure wishful thinking. This will get done and updated next month.
Unfortunately no story this month, for obvious reasons. But never fear, the saga will continue next month to tie in with some of my planned painting and characters.
Anyway that's all from me and despite all this savagery, its been a really sweet trip down memory lane so far. It's also great to see everyone else's progress; some beautiful models with beautiful paint jobs. Much love and encouragement to all the other challengers and anyone else following along, and a silent toast to the fallen.

DeleteThanks man, wanted to go for a really bright tone. The recipe is:
White undercoat -> 1 layer Moot Green -> unthinned Athonian Camoshade wash -> strong highlight Moot Green -> edge highlight Yriel Yellow
It's pretty easy and nice to paint because you only have to go over things once.
Nice work on these iconic savage orc boyz. I actually like your banner, I like to scan them in and put elements together in photoshop to make mine. Then paint by numbers.
