Chris P's Chaos Space Marine Rank and File Month 3 - Close Combat Squad

9 Chaos Space Marines - 225 pts
1 Aspiring Champion - 30 pts
Plasma Pistol (hand?) - 5 pts
Flamer - 9 pts
Heavy Bolter 12 pts

Total 282 points

The champion here was great fun to paint, I've always loved the Realms-era champions and this one is a glorious oddball. He has a very skinny waist, and so the chunky Rogue Trader backpacks seemed to unbalance him a bit. I searched around for a replacement, and settled on a modern Possessed backpack, since it's suitably compact and the eyeball-stalks have an appropriately Tzeenchian look. With the rest of the squad, I tried to create gritty front-line sloggers, without some of the vibrance of my more elite units.

Pokrzyw's Sisters of Battle - Month 4 - Rank&File 4 - Frateris Militia [131 pts]

"Frateris Militia have been known to perform feats of great courage and valour that would make veteran Imperial Guardsman blanch with fear."

Plans for April:

Plan was simple - no woman, no power armour, this is typical male month. Steel, leather and testosterone. Necromunda's Orlock gang wait for a long time to be part of a game. Cawdor or Redemptionists may looks better, but for militaristic sisters from 2nd edition Orlocks are also great.

Realization:

Striping old paint takes some time. I've prepared bases and after cleaning zenithal gray primer was set

I use mainly Citadel Contrast and Wargaming SpeedPaints 2.0. They are great on zenithal base. Painting was quite fast, but I noticed that two warriors have only one hand and two or three others has additional hands still on it's weapons. Unfortunately I have no tools nor bits to solve that issue  (I spend last two weeks out of my home city).

Red ribbons for identifing Ecclesiarch forces .

Final Galery:

whole unit led by missionary

heavy and spiritual support

former soldiers

and teenagers

all together

Points:

  • Missionary champion for 23pts
  • Frateris Militia squad 108 pts

What's next (plans for May):

Leader's month - small squad, cannones, Kyrinov and missionary.

George's Bad Moonz, Rank & File, Month 4

Big Gobb heard them before he saw them.

The deranged cackle, honking clown horn and buzzing chainsaw.

The rumbling shamanic ramblings.

The weirdboyz had arrived.

One a depraved clown. The other a long lost mystic. Together a formidable psychic force.

Big Gobb liked bright uniforms and luxury. He wasn’t too sure about psychic warfare, but he was a Bad Moon and Bad Moons always had weird boyz. He just hoped they didn’t explode while he was standing nearby.

Phew! That was close. Very close.

Look hard, and you’ll see that the paint on some of this month’s minis is still wet in the pictures. It was a photo finish, but I bloody did it!

And I had fun in the process! The weirdboyz are great models – a Hero Quest wizard I’ve had for more than 30 years and a one off from the amazing Warmonger Miniatures. They each have two minderz to keep an eye on them (four minderz in total).

I also added some more nobz to Big Gobb’s retinue. These are from Old School Miniatures and again, were loads of fun to paint. I didn’t have much time to get them done, but still thoroughly enjoyed it.

And finally I added a mekaniak, a classic Rogue Trader miniature. I experimented with a slightly different colour scheme, which I don’t love and won’t repeat. But hey, you’ve gotta try!

Onwards!

Points:

2 x Weirdboyz: 100 points

4 x minderz: 0 points

1 x Mekaniak: 15 points

3 X drill bosses: 60 points

Month 4 Total: 175 points

Clown weirdboy!

Shamanic weirdboy!

Nobz!

Mekaniak!

Big Gobb's Big Mob!

JohnR's Dwarf Month 4 - Rank and File (459points)

April was tricky this year - work became increasingly busy, there were several family birthdays and I was flattened by COVID for 2 weeks.

So that's the excuses out of the way :) let's see what I managed to get painted:

Prince Ulther's Dragon Company - 25 Dwarf Warriors, Hand Weapons, Light Armour and Shields. Full Command and Level 10 Hero - 379points.

Ulther himself is missing of course as he was painted many years ago. After some consideration and helpful advice about shields I went with heater shields from Foundry (I already had some in the bits box) and dragon transfers from Etsy.

Four Dwarf Cannon - Light Armour - 80points.

This is the third of these dwarf siege guns I've painted and they're easily my favourite dwarf cannon.

So no character this month but I did get an army shot:

Mustafa’s month IV: Rank and file #3, tank time!

As cool as jump pack marines are, they are somewhat lacking in the firepower department.

Figured it was time to give them something with a bit more “oomph” to it!

I printed this bad boy a while ago but never really had the opportunity to put him on an army. The last two marine armies I did were not particularly speedy, so this he didn’t really fit in with them, but hell be perfect for my Blood Angel Assault Army!

In OPR games I’ll probably run him as one of the new anti gravity tanks from GW as he’s far too large to be a regular landspeeder. In games or 2nd edition I’ll probably run him as a command Predator.

Anyway, here’s the whole army so far. Cheers for looking!

Pablol - Imperial Guard - Month 4 - Rank & File

This month was a struggle. I had a flu and during that week I worked with too many units and tanks without any proper focus on my April goals. The rest of the month there were too many parties and busy weekends until I realized I was badly running out of time. The ambitiously started April turned into a damage control month and here's what I managed to finish:

A squad of five servitors. One of them, the only 2nd edition model is a substitute until I finish a third lasgun armed model. I think servo armed models were only available in Space Marine forces back in 2nd edition. The colour scheme didn't quite end up having the 2nd edition feel I was looking for, but they're ok. The jumpsuits could've been a brighter colour or I should've just properly committed and painted them red. Atleast I'm happy how the servitors weapons turned out. They give a bit more of a 2nd edition feel with the clunky lasgun muzzles.

Next up we have a heavy weapon mortar team thats still missing the other three models. I'm quite happy with the mortars as they're all milliput recasts. They lack a bit of detail compared to the original, but three metal mortars would've been past my budget.

Last but not least we have two tank crew members. A converted Van Saar juve and an Other World Miniatures barbarian. I started working on the juve before OWAC, so he's got a 3rd edition auspex in his hand. The pilot helmet is from my favorite 40k models, the three third edition tank crew members. The techno viking got a spanner and bionic arm.

All three are unfinished units, so I won't add any points this month. I'm very happy with the tank  crew members and the cultist regiment is also slowly expanding. Hopefully the Tech Priest I'm working on will make the servitors look better with the rest of the army. Atleast he will be red.

Still no tanks! This was my last Rank & File month, so I've only got the wild card and leader month left.

Good luck for everyone!
