Slaaneshchild tentaculich wrap-up : 6 month of disease, plague and despair

So hhhhheeeeeere we are. 7 months later, with more than 5000 pts painted. What a great adventure !

I didn't have the time/the courage to paint the flies and the pestigors, I will do it later

This army was a great challenge as I am more used to paint dark elves and slaaneshi models, but it was a real pleasure !

I also think more chaos spawns are missing, I will probably do it in the months to come with the pestigors and flies.

I do love all of them, it was so much fun to paint and to convert ! The flagellants, plaguebearers, plague knights, daemon prince, great unclean one... and of course chariots and altar.

I couldn't make a proper wrap up picture this year, with me behind, I add to rush packing my stuff for vacation... but I am all here ! In each miniature, behind each single nurgling, that's all me !!

the horde in it glorious pride

plaguebearers

masters of plagues with army standard bearer

the master of all, Conjonctivus the glorious !

Manson's family

chaos altar of unseen beauties

Next year ??

Good question. I have a side project to convert/create all the special characters for Dark Elves 5th ed army book (when I was a child, dark elves were the poorest army in terms of miniatures, so I will take my revenge by creating appropriate special characters. And Dark Elves are all about revenge, aren't they ?? )

But it doesn't make an army. So I am thinking... maybe rebuild my Emperor's Children, but I want to play them now... Will I be able to wait until the next OWAC ? Will see next year !

Cheers !!

The last but not the least.... Chaos Altar, chariot, and other conforts, Slaaneshchild's Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllld month.

Tadam !!! Summer is coming ! And with it, the end of the OWAC ! To finish with style and beauty, I needed something really cool. I wanted to make a Chaos Altar / Baggage train.

Center pieces, especially in chaos armies, have always been huge opportunities for kitbashing and painting.

I wanted something big, that I could use in gaming in different ways. I started with a 3Dprinted version of the skaven doom bell, I asked to make it smaller than actual version. I added and old RAFM beast from Cthulhu range, two oldhammer bone champions, et voilà !!

Rejoice in death for Father Nurgle !!!!

If I can't play it as a Chaos Altar, I will play it as an hero on chariot pulled by a beast of Nurgle !

Speaking of chariot, I wanted to have a sorcerer lord on chariot. I mixed the horses from the actual range (it is a permanent spell from the ghost army in AoS) with the plague cart. I add the throne of Sauron, a sorcerer and the driver from the RoC chaos chariot.

I love the throne of Sauron. I think I used it maybe 3 times in different conversions. This miniature fits perfectly for Slaanesh, (I see a throne made of living fleeeeeeesh), but not too bad for Nurgle too.

And then... no chaos army is complete without a Chaos Lord on Chaos Steed. So I made one with some bitzs I had.

The horse is from Confrontation, the character is an alternative champion of the Palanquin. I also decided to build a Chaos Spawn from nothing, "just like in the old time" ;)

Finally Graeme send me a beast of Nurgle, so I added a plague bearer on it and now I have a unit of 5 plague riders !!! Thank you !!

Family picture !!!!! Say Beuuuuuuurg :D

Next month... The entire army !

Slaaneshchild's gruesome leader month !

Hum hum... this OWAC is coming to an end... so this is the month I decided to paint the most infamous of all, the Great Unclean One himself !

I had this miniature from a friend and I didn't like its head. It is the alternative head, not the one with horns. He looks particularly stupid so I decided to change it.

I "sculpted" him a new face... A big eye with three eyes (boils) in it and a plaguebearer horn. He will be the "Leader of the eye collector legion" ! I can imagine what infamous reciepe he is going to cook with eyes of his victims....

Now I am prettyyyyyy I deserve a kiss !!!!

Isn't he so cute ?

I am pretty proud of him. He is "Conjonctivus, supreme leader of the eye collector legion".

But a leader won't be a proper one without an herald !

Here come Lord Bubonius, the zealous, a daemon prince of Nurgle. You've all recognized the oldhammer GUO, I just added wings from an Acheron miniature from Confrontation. I just love to imagine him gifted by wings that can't bear him !

This mighty herald will come with his mignons... 7 bases of nurglings.

We have a strong father/son relationship

And of course.... family pictuuuuuure !!!!

Next month, I will paint a leader on chariot and my altar/baggage train. It will be my wild card !

See you next month !

The Tallymen arrive! (Skåls Rank and File month 2) Ready to Publish

In the midst of a desolate battlefield, where the stench of decay hung heavy in the air and the earth trembled with the echoes of war, a Chaos sorcerer raised his arms in a twisted invocation. His eyes, pools of glowing hatred, glinted with malevolent anticipation as he chanted forbidden incantations, calling upon the foul powers of the warp.

As the incantations reached a crescendo, a rift tore open in the fabric of reality, unleashing a horde of grotesque figures clad in decayed flesh. Nurgle Plaguebearers, the embodiment of pestilence and despair, emerged from the abyss, their twisted bodies oozing with foul corruption. The Tallymen of Nurgle, carrying rusted implements of death, joined the fray with gleeful abandon.

Nurglings, the mischievous offspring of Father Nurgle, scampered at their feet, spreading new and virulent diseases with every step. Their laughter, a cacophony of mirthful agony, echoed across the battlefield, heralding the arrival of their benevolent master.

On the opposing side stood the stalwart warriors of the Ultramarines, their armor gleaming defiantly against the tide of decay. Though valiant and disciplined, they were ill-prepared for the onslaught of Nurgle's foul minions. With each swing of their blades, the Deathguard carved a path of suffering and despair, their ranks bolstered by the relentless advance of the Tallymen.

The battlefield became a tableau of carnage and despair, as the forces of Nurgle swept aside all resistance with relentless determination. The air rang with the clash of steel, bolter fire, and the agonized cries of the fallen, as the very ground beneath them seemed to wither and decay in the presence of Nurgle's foul blessings.

Despite their courage and valor, the Ultramarines found themselves overwhelmed by the relentless onslaught of decay. As the battle raged on, it became clear that victory belonged not to the warriors of the Emperor, but to the insidious forces of darkness that held sway over the realm of pestilence and death.

This month I decided to continue my Nurgle theme and paint up a unit of 10 Plaguebearers as well as a Chaos Sorcerer to summon them. The Plaguebearers just seemed to flow easily after painting my Deathguard last month. I used a lot of the same color combos. I am not really happy with their plague swords, but they are done for now.

The Chaos Sorcerer is a fantasy miniature that I added a bald head from the old plastic zombie kit. I think it was originally a trophy or to be used as part of basing for the zombies. I thought the head was a perfect crazy eyed Nurgle Sorcerer. I also added a chaos powerfist that was pointing to the sculpt. I liked the look of the Sorcerer having three arms. I think it added to the chaos feel and the powerfist made the sculpt feel more 40k. I might go back later and add a chaos marine backpack to this miniature. I am still undecided. For now, he is finished.

It's been a fun month for painting and I have had time to play with a few other parts of this project that will be revealed in the following months.

In Nurgle's fetid garden, where decay holds sway,

Bubbling cauldrons brew, in shades of decay,

A toast to Father Nurgle, in pestilence we dance,

In the embrace of sickness, we find our chance.

With each foul sip, we welcome the blight,

In Nurgle's embrace, all is putridly right,

A toast to entropy, to the cycle of decay,

In Nurgle's realm, we revel and sway.

Raise your cup to the Lord of Rot and Decay,

In Nurgle's foul garden, we'll find our way,

In the putrid depths, where life meets its end,

In Nurgle's embrace, we'll forever transcend.

Till next month,

SKÅL
