Pokrzyw's Empire Army - Wrap up - OWAC IX

Forces gathering, the Empire going to battle.

I've started full of energy and with detailed plan. I painted many miniatures that were in boxes for a long time. Empire was my one of the dream armies in '90ties. No luck nor money to build it until now. One of the most important goals was return enjoment from painting miniatures. Unfortunately starting April I had less and less motivation to finish this project...

But painted miniatures looks like old-style colourful forces. Exactly as it shall

I've spent a lot of time in place that internet access is discusable ;) and far away from my workshop (that's why i wrote it three days after regular deadline).

Pokrzyw's Empire Army - Month 6 - The Emperor - Leader Month - OWAC IX

The leader of humanity, mighty emperor Karl Franz on his griffon Deathclaw. Wielding Ghal-Maraz is leading his forces to the victory

Plans for June:

The plan was paint Karl Franz or Archlector with some cavalry unit (still outriders, white wolves and a band of halflings are not painted).

Hard year, not easy June. I have really 48hours to paint it.

Hour 0

Temperature about 39-40 celcius cause it a little bit problematic, but finally at least one big model has been painted.
Few moments later..

Pokrzyw's Empire Army - Month 1 - Heavy Metal Knights - OWAC IX

"Reiksguard Knights, your Emperor is calling! Death or glory await us, but if we die, we will die as warriors, with swords in hand, and there can be no better death than that." - Kurt Helborg motivation call - from Warhammer:Armies 8th ed

Kurt Helborg - Grand Master of Reiksguard Knights

 Plans for January:

I decided to take one of the most iconic units of Oldhammer Empire - Reiksguards on foot. They are slow, they don't have good offensive or defensive skills, but they look impressive.

Before

Realization:

I started month with huge entushiasm, although after week of paintwork I had two weeks of other activities.. And it means that last week was really busy ;)

My idea was not using contrast nor speedpaints. I forget how hard and time consuming is classic painting without modern cheats..

Final Gallery:

Sorry for quality of photos, taken in very bad light in last evening..

Steel, feathers and saches. Impressive drill.

Together with their grand master

Points:
  • Kurt Kelborg (147)
  • 20 Reiksguard on foot [with FCG] (286)
Plans for February:

February is short, but I would try to struggle with Moot forces (marked as 1)

Gift:

This year I decided to prepare and paint one of old gobbos. There are small issues with parcel, but it shall start it's trip to Byron on Monday.

Sybou - chaos army- month 6 - Wild card - 66 points

 Hello everyone,

it seems that it's a new year for lots of us where we reached our objective of completing an other Owac.

For my last month, I was willing to complete something really significative for me.

But first, I got to show you my tzeentch Wizard:

This Svodred called the Clever one, I tried to recreate his style in the White Dwarf. It's a really cool miniature, I like the result.

I planned to add  a little diorama on the base but it was to busy so I just put a couple of rocks. You can feel the end of the Owac where you want to complete your miniatures list.

But back to my wild card, here is a little history:

In the end of 2016, I was planning to make myself a really cool altar, an altar that would make all chaos followers die of envy ...

So I started building it, gathering foam, plastic cards and minis ...

2016: The altar project just starts ...

Then I went on all kind of project and life ... The altar and its parts got put in a box and lots of us forgot about it.

Then Owac 2024, I was watching all the result of my procrastination concerning my chaos army and I remembered ... The altar Project ... Shame went through my body as I realised it was just an other project thrown without finishing it.

By Khorne! This should be no more, I'm going to finish this Project!

And here it is:

8 years later ...

Pulled by some wretches, the Khorne altar incudes a chaos bishop, some crazed summoner with some bloody daemons, a master of discipline and his whip, and a big old school Khorne statue with a little pile of skulls.

The altar stands on a pretty big homemade base.

I remember that the fact i didn't suceed to make the wretches hold the handle frustrated me. But this time I was like, they're gonna look a bit silly with their hands but I'll finish the project.

I hope you'll appreciate the work put into this piece wich is now, a central piece for my chaos army.

I finished all my miniatures for the Owac but I still have to finish my offering.
May be in the wrap up post, i ll try to add a couple of lunatics in order to conclude on a good note.

Thanks you all for your kind words through this year Owac, reading and watching all our photos.

Take care everyone and congratulations to everyone.

Cheers,

                                                                                                                                            Sybou

CopperOracle II. 5. Leader - Hagar Sheol and King F'yar

King F'yar and Hagar Sheol

For the Leader month I planned for the Orc Chieftan of the Severed Hand Orcs, Hagar Sheol and the mastermind of all the orc forces, the mighty King F'yrr on War Wyvern

Despite only being the chief of the smallest of the three orc tribes, Hagar Sheol is featured on the stunning cover of the scenario book and is one of the two figures (the other being the dwarf leader Osrim Chardz) created especially for the set.

One of the rarest pieces for the collection, I have only ever seen him come up a couple of times for sale and one of those was when I grabbed him!

Completed Severed Hand Chieftain, Hagar Sheol

The Orc on War Wyvern was sculpted by Tony Ackland and released in 1984. This was the first of now a long line in Orc and War Wyvern sculpts and was originally just a general released before it was reused as a character in the scenario.

Base built up with bark and gravel

I decided on a larger base and stonework effect to add to its presence.
i have added some small pieces to the corner of its mouth which will be the bit for some reins in the future when I can settle on the right style (leather/rope or chains)

laying down initial base colours.
I have seen the Wyvern in a multitude of colours from deep red and purple to a red and green two tone similar to the later edition Wyverns but I settled on a more nature subdued scheme that would match the main armies

King F'yar dismounted.
The figure is  a compact sculpt and like many sculpts of the era, can initially look quite crude but the more i worked on it the more detail and character I found.
