Rank and file month #2
A busy time with the brushes this month, I painted a full set of minis for Hero Quest for a friend, the downstairs shower room for the missus and of course my quota for the OWAC.
Mercenaries are common in the Armies of the Imperium, though rarely mentioned by Imperial media who describe them as 'contractors' and explain that they are motivated by patriotism and a desire to kill 'bad guys'.
This is to differentiate them from the mercenaries of the Imperium's enemies who, of course, are only motivated by money and a desire for chaos and killing.
Most are Imperial Army veterans who have done their decades of service but are too addicted to war to return to normal life in the Imperium. Others are rejects from the regular military who find a welcome (but usually terminally short) home in the mercenary companies.
Painting these old mini's (some of the earliest I ever bought - over 35 years ago) has really tickled my nostalgia button and I'm thinking of asking some friends to play a series of narrative, linked games based on what I'm painting. Though I've not asked anyone yet, so watch this space I guess 😅
