John R's Final Post End of Challenge Report: 1857pts. C- Could do Better.

John is a hard worker but can have difficulty staying on task. John can apply paint with a reasonable degree of competence and seems to enjoy the design aspects of producing an army. He can reflect on his work and identify ways to improve. John needs to remember that while his school work is vital he must also make time for more important tasks, like painting toy soldiers. John has told me that he has really enjoyed this years Old World Army Challenge and is looking forward to starting new projects though his enthusiasm will serve him better once he has learned to manage his distractions.

Overall: C- could do better.

I know those years as a teacher weren't a total waste of time ;)

Really enjoyed this years army challenge. Already started planning and collecting for next year!

John also needs to work on his photography skills :D

  3. Great army pic! That is awesome!
I hate painting lots of long spikey pole-type things, so painting this would be a nightmare - so kudos sir, it's a wonderful job! The finished movement trays, overal paint and colour scheme and those lovely banners all come together really very well - congratulations!

  4. C- is very harsh! Surely worth a B at least? I love the colours (I need to add orange to my list of potential army colours!), the flags, the overall coherence of the force. I think you're marking yourself down because some people painted ridiculous hordes, while you have addressed the task set before you admirably.

    1. I agree, any reasonable external examiner would knock this up a grade for theme alone.

  5. Well, if this is a 'C-' effort, I want to see your 'A' grade stuff! Seriously, it's a super effort and a force you could be proud of fielding on any battlefield!
    Well done!

  6. Oh God - report writing - that takes me back! I always liked X is very enthusiastic in class but doesn't always produce a finished piece of work to the standard I know he/she is capable of. Obviously not applicable to your good self though! Cracking army, beautifully painted and I really enjoyed your choice of names for the various characters and regiments. As has been said the grade awarded definitely needs moderating and I'd say your working well above expected standards ;)

  9. "John tends to judge his work too harshly and may wish to consider a more balanced perspective to appreciate his substantial achievements and the quality of his work" :-)

Brilliant work! I'm a sucker for historical minis and you've done your Conquistador Estalians admirably! Banners flying, polarms ready, cavalry sweeping the flanks. Good choice of contrasting primary colours. It is a great looking army.
