John's Chaos Dwarfs

John here,

I got into this game around 96 and I know it's not old enough for die hard oldhammer fans but the models still had a lot of character. The Chaos Dwarfs were my first army and were thoroughly enjoyed they have amazing fluff. The idea of an army wanting to enslave all around them then sacrifice them to their bull god Hashut was very appealing plus giant hats! A fun thing to do to friends when playing them was pick up a unit of 10 of something of their army and use them as a small unit of hobgoblins watch their reactions as they find one of their units as my slaves.

At 15 I was in a terrible accident that destroyed my leg and hand and gave me severe nerve damage and shaky hands so even though at times it can be difficult I have found solace in painting it puts my mind at ease and helps me focus though pain. So now I will torture your eyes with my painting style. Sadly there is no oldhammer community where I am so I will be putting these guys on rounds to use in our booming age of sigmar community (I know its sacrilege) but these guys are too awesome not to use.

My list:
Chaos Dwarf Lord as my general - 160 Points
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer - 59 Points
Unit of 20 Chaos Dwarf Warriors - 280 Points
Unit of 20 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbusses - 280 Points
Unit of 10 Black Orcs - 90 Points
Earthshaker Cannon with crew - 140 Points

Total Points 1009

My force minus Warriors

My Warriors are taking a bath atm

                                                    No peeking! (perverts)

  1. That's a rare treasure right there! These Chaos Dwarfs trade for insane amount of money these days! It's really cool we have them in the challenge.

Are you going with the traditionnal red armour, or something more exotic?

  2. While the popularity of Oldhammer is growing, I think you would be hard-pressed to find an in-person oldhammer community anywhere in the US. I say as long as you use the figures and derive joy from them, use them in whatever games you want!

    1. Yep- I'm pretty much the only one in my area interested in the older models, and my interest doesn't even go back to what some consider true Oldhammer!

  3. First off, sorry to hear about your injuries, I'm glad you find the hobby therapeutic. I'm funny about 4th edition. I hate Night Goblins with a passion, but love the Big Hat Dwarves and Hobgoblins from that era. As per Iannick, they go for stupid prices on eBay. Get games where you can and try to go to events where Oldhammer is played. I was surprised at how many people at Kublacon were playing old specialist games and had no idea, or only a vague idea, of what Oldhammer was.
