Millsy's Carroburg Greatswords (234 points)

G'day Folks,

Having painted a couple of 12 figure units to test my Carroburg colour scheme I felt ready to tackle the real stars of my show... the Greatswords! Glorious blood red uniforms, massive swords and even bigger plumes on hats. Woohoo!

The unit is composed of a combination the three variants of the 1997 catalogue Imperial Great Sword miniatures, sculpted by Michael and Alan Perry when they were (IMHO) at the very peak of their GW sculpting powers. Each of the three poses is represented in roughly equal amounts and I have varied the colour scheme for each and every figure to add individuality.

The command is composed of an unmodified Imperial Command Group drummer, both hero and champion figures selected for their appropriate weaponry, and finally a standard bearer converted from an artilleryman.

You'll notice the ribbons are both yellow and blue, bringing together the two highlight colours from my two previous units. The idea being that those other units are detachments for the Greatswords.

Here are some individual shots of each rank so you can see how I varied the colour scheme each and every time (shakes head!).

Thanks for looking. Not sure what is coming next from my list, still trying to decide what I feel like tackling over Christmas and into January. Speaking of which, here's wishing all my fellow Challengers a safe and happy holiday, hopefully including a few peaceful hours with brush in hand!

Cheers,
Millsy

  5. You forgot to mention their glorious beards. Another top notch unit. I really like the pop of accent color from the ribbons etc.

  8. These look great. As others have said, the accent ribbons tying the parent unit to its detachments is a great touch.
