Mike's Waagh Grogguzzler 200pts

WAAAGH!!! So here we are at the end of the 1st month of the challenge and I have the satisfaction that I completed the painting portion of the challenge with a few days to spare! I decided for my first month to just bite the bullet and get what I consider my hardest challenge out of the way and paint an entire infantry unit!

I feared since I usually struggle with painting the same kind of model over and over (which is why chaos warriors were so nice for me to paint!), that if I waited until later in the challenge it would just be harder to find motivation to do them. So I pulled out the unit of Marauder orc warriors and got to work on Grogguzzler's "loyal" lieutenant Grimmug and the Alehouse Raiders . I used Coat d'Arms paints for the flesh, Citadel and Vallejo for the metallic and wooden parts, and Liquitex Inks and Citadel washes to finish the models. I'm pleases how they come out since I prefer my orcs to not be a dark green like some orcs end up.

Grimmug is an orc boss with heavy armour and shield and a Ax of Bork coming in at 47pts and his comrade Mumph bearer of a magical standard liberated from an Empire wizard whose laboratory they raided and discovered kegs full of a magical liquid of fearlessness (really a poor brew master's stock).

Clobber the musician and 14 warriors round out the unit with 153pts for  a total 200pts exactly! With December knocking at the door hopefully I'll have plenty of time to finish my next challenge with a week off to end the month in case I need it. Cheers!

  1. Great looking unit. I love the shield and banner designs. Reminds me that I have a few of those Marauder orcs I need to add to my unit to beef it up.

  3. Love the champion!

I also think you did the right thing by starting with the most demanding right out of the gate. That's what I usually do.
