Rank & File #2
I wanted to make sure I knocked out 10 of these guys so I could run either a 10 strong unit or two units of five. They were fun to paint up and help set the mood for how I would like the rest of the Pirate/Dark Eldar to look.
I had a bit of fun with the photos this month as I could envision these guys stalking the under hives of the planets, raiding and looking for information on Eldar artifacts. Here are the Dark Striking Scorpions stalking through the under hives looking for unwary prey to fall upon.
Next up I took a break from doing black with a Harlequin Solitaire. I am really enjoying painting up the Harlequins. Each miniature is fun to treat as an individual and not have to match anything else in the force.
Finally for the month I went back to black and added a bit of support with two of these killing machines. Death Jesters have such a great background with their dark sense of humor and ability to take out troops or vehicles just adds to the draw of these guys.
Two Death Jesters in their basic form are 135 points each before equipment. I can have a total of six of these nasty dudes so you may just see a few more before we are done.
Totals for this month:
Unit of 10 Dark Scorpions: 360 points
2 Death Jesters: 270 points
Harlequin Solitare: 140 points
February Total: 770
February was a pretty productive month and also my second "Troop" month. Im not sure what next month holds for me as I have so much I want to paint for this Force.
Till next month Skal!
It is said that Arhra father of scorpions founded the incubi when he fell, but I like your take on it! Go Team Eldar!
ReplyDeleteI blame you if I end up painting Incubi this month instead of what I was going to paint.
ReplyDeleteWow - love the photography and scenery and that's before I've even got to the minis! Never had much to do with the Dark Eldar so I'm not at all familiar with them but they definitely look the part as pirates - love the green edging on the weapons. Death Jesters are an old classic and are looking great!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding units, and the scenes are gorgeus. I never liked the mandrakes before but probably because most of them were pretty bland paintjobs (yes, even in the 3rd ed codex, what was the heavy metal team thinking!). Your job with the purple skins and the green-blue tints in the clothes looks impressive.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff, I especially like the Solitaire.
ReplyDeleteLovely Eldar and the lighting is fantastic and atmospheric!
ReplyDeleteStunning job! Making me regret even more not picking up a complete box of 3rd ed for £20 before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love how much that solitaire stands out from the rest of the units. Also, you choice of background for your pictures is great as well.
