February Round-Up

We've not got all of February's entries posted to the blog, so it's time for another monthly round-up post! February is a short month even on a Leap Year and one ripe for entrants to find themselves in the Field of Bones, but we seem to have done pretty well for ourselves this month - cheers to everyone who made it through! Let's dive right in and see what we've got:

Tom's brilliantly technicolor Chaos Renegades opened the month with a bang!

Bill chose to paint his Leaders this month, including an army standard bearer and wizard.

AdamH knocked out two big guns for his Skaven, with some stunning basing as well.

Shadespyre continued to paint Wood Elves at a prodigious rate.

JamesWRR brought us a beautifully grotesque Chaos Dreadnought.

Chris painted even more Chaos Thug Cavalry - more horses than I've painted in my entire life.

Mustafa scaled up an Epic Tank producing epic results.

Jaakko brought us more Squats and some craters to boot.

Paul's done some spectacular Wood Elves, and his son Tom has continued his undead.

Ben's Eldar have gained some Howling Banshees and Warp Spiders.

Adrian's High Elves have gained some Spearmen in a mix of heraldry.

Ben's Alpine Gnomes have gained a goose, and a giant!

Filippo's back with more undead and more stunning banners.

Byron's bell-bottomed Wardancers take the field!

Slaaneshchild's produced some of the gnarliest Plaguebearers I've ever seen.

PaulM has given us another stunning unit of Wood Elves.

Pokrzyws has painted an entire OWAC's worth of Dark Elves. I'm not even joking.

ChrisP's used his Leader Month to paint some classic Space Orks.

Skal's Plaguebearers look amazing under a UV light, which is not something one would expect to say about Plaguebearers.

Sybou's done some stellar Chaos Goblins and an outstanding Chaos Giant!

Mariano's added some falconers and Glade Runners to his Wood Elf army.

Ian has added a staggering 40 undead to his horde, with a mix of skeletons and ghouls.

Nathan's Dark Elves have gained some reinforcements, including a Gorgon.

Samuel's added some stunning artillery to his Grand Army of Nuln.

JohnB's Dwarves have recruited some heroes this month.

JohnR's spent the month painting Rogue Trader mercenaries and they look like they mean business!

After last month's round-up post, a request was made to add those who have retired to the Field of Bones (it's right behind the farm in the country where your dog went all those years ago) to the list.

For February, the only new resident of the Field of Bones is George Prince.

JohnR's Month 2 - Rogue Trader Mercenaries. Now With Points! (591.5 points)

 Rank and file month #2

A busy time with the brushes this month, I painted a full set of minis for Hero Quest for a friend, the downstairs shower room for the missus and of course my quota for the OWAC.

Mercenaries are common in the Armies of the Imperium, though rarely mentioned by Imperial media who describe them as 'contractors' and explain that they are motivated by patriotism and a desire to kill 'bad guys'.

This is to differentiate them from the mercenaries of the Imperium's enemies who, of course, are only motivated by money and a desire for chaos and killing.

Most are Imperial Army veterans who have done their decades of service but are too addicted to war to return to normal life in the Imperium. Others are rejects from the regular military who find a welcome (but usually terminally short) home in the mercenary companies.

Painting these old mini's (some of the earliest I ever bought - over 35 years ago) has really tickled my nostalgia button and I'm thinking of asking some friends to play a series of narrative, linked games based on what I'm painting. Though I've not asked anyone yet, so watch this space I guess 😅

Samuel’s Empire - Grand Army of Nuln - Rank & File II : Gunnery School Artillery (295 pts)

This month was a short one and as I had a week long business trip planned I needed to pick the lowest model count and get to work sharpish. So to that end, it weas time for the big guns!!!

For all the Gunnery School based models I wanted to add a spot colour. So based on the various different colours used by Nuln units in the literature I decided upon green. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Von Glockenspink himself!

Heimerdunkel, the man sent to keep an eye on things

The wood is very well sculpted, but boy is it a pain in the ass to paint.

Points so far:-

Rank & File I (Jan):

 - 19 x Halberdiers : light armour, standard, musician = 189pts

 - Champion: halberd, light armour = 34pts

Rank & File II (Feb):

 - Mortar = 100pts

 - Great Cannon = 95pts

 - Helblaster Volley Gun = 100pts

Samuel

Nathan’s Dark Elves rank and file 2 (291 points)

February is done and I just managed to get the minimum figures painted. If I can get through March without using my mulligan I reckon I’ll finish the challenge; if not then I might be in some trouble. Anyway this months figures is a bit of a mix:

- 8 Dark Elves with double handed weapons, light armor, shields and crossbows (128 points)

- 1 Dark elf with light armor, shield and a crossbow to finish off my unit from last month (14 points)

- 1 Helldrake (+3 shock elite on cold one) with light armor, shield and hand weapon (39 points)

- 1 Gorgon (110 points)

Here they are:

Next month I will be finishing off the unit by adding the remaining rank and file troopers including standard bearer and musician. And an assassin and another helldrake for some real trouble!

Ian's Undead - Rank and File month 2 (456 points)

There were faces at the windows and words written in blood; deep in the crypt a lonely ghoul crunched on something that might once have been alive; forked lightnings slashed the ebony night; the faceless were walking; all was right with the world.

- Neil Gaiman

Mariano Sánchez - Wood elves - Falconers, Warrior kinband, Archer

 Rank and File month #II

A real miscelanea of wood elves...

Hi!!!

This time the end of February has really been so close for me . I have been working on another project besides the wood elves army (yes, there is life out off Athel Loren too) and, for a while, I was thinking in using a Wild card. But my wife "allow" me to have some extra time and I have been able to finish it.

What have I painted this month...?

As you can see, I spent this month with three diferents color schemen! One of my warrior kinbands has been unfinished since my first OWAC (June 2021) and it was time to finish it. I continued with some transformed wood elves to have 5 Falconers. So I needed one more miniature and I choose a fifth edition archer to use it as an archer or a a Hero with bow (didn´t have any!!!).

Current situation of the painting list:

10 Glade runners (musics and standard bearers) - 192
4 Warrior kinband - 52
1 Archer - 16
5 Falconers - 78

Time to show you some pics:

I´m very proud of this unit!

Hope you like them!

For the next month, I think heroes on horse are chosen one. I hate painting horse so I´m gonna need some extra time to get over the boriness...

Owac VII_ Sybou_ chaos army_ month 2_ rank and file_ 319 points

 Hello to all Owacers!

The year of the revolution shall see the rise of my chaos army once again.

This month will be about the smallest guys and the biggest guy ... here is the month of February:

Every chaos army have a bunch of silly and weak guys to go around and help for the cause. The chaos goblins of Wingnuts the nasty play that role in my army.

Wingnuts has the gift of having wings which helped me greatly to gain control over his brethren.

Wingnuts and his command crew

For my chaos goblin, I succeeded to find 9 of the old sculpt, here we can see the champion and my favorite, the twins. I added to them several "goblin berserkers" from alternative army (guy on the left).

The musician is a squig herder and the banner is a night goblin with a gnoblar head swap.

Rank n°1

Two chaos goblins, horn and tail. Two berserkers and a marauder goblin with a huge axe. I chose to paint him as a redcap.

Rank n°2

Two chaos goblins, three eyes and long neck. A berserker and a citadel goblin with a flail. I added the furry familiar as he looks like the smaller cousin of the mutant goblin named Beast.

Rank n°3

Three chaos goblins, plague, hopper and beast. An old gnoll and an other familliar. If you hit him, he might drop a blue potion.

The full unit ready to fight or scavenge

Then we have the big guy. I purchased him to Darksword Miniatures. He 's really cool and has a good weight.

The big Guy
I chose to paint him with a pretty noble paint scheme. A golden armor, a white and grey cloack. He looks nice.

Here is my month n°2 for this seventh Owac.
The total of points is 319 points and with january, I have a total of 643 points.

Next month, I'll start my big unit of beastmen. This will be Fun!

Take care everyone, our march is still long ...

Cheers,

                                                                                                                                            Sybou
