Sybou's Albion Project - Leader month (315 points)

 Greetings to all Owacers,

thank you for joining me in the Albion's Project.

Once again the Owac Project allowed all of us to carry on with our respective projects and we just have one month left.

As i'm pretty late, i had to combine my leader and my wildcard in the same month.

My leader, a wise Druid with his grim but faithfull Kelpie. (110 pts)

For this Project, I really needed to get a kelpie, this seahorse is pretty typical of the northern Islands mythology. The hard part was to find one that I like.

I found the sculpt in a STL file made by Warploque Miniatures. My cousin had to print it 3 times in order to find the right size for me.

The Druid is from Conquest Miniature (again) ; i hesitated to cut him to place him on the horse but I feared of messing him up so i just put him in front of the beast.
It looks good enough like this.

Green and wet horsey!

Then for my wildcard, I didn't have much choice and I had to get ...

An other Giant!!! (205 pts)

More like a couple of giants on one body. I alway liked this guy and got it on the internet for not much. I kept him in a box after realising his size compared to my other giants, but I told myself that I really like him so I had to add him to the Army.

I took advantge of the fact that I had place on the base to add some rocks and stones. They look good, a bit like a wow ogre with their two heads. Really cool and simple miniatures.

With these guys i reached a total of 1060 points for the 2023 challenge.
Combined with my last challenge, it will be 2444 points.

For the month of June, it will be a big challenge as I have 35 miniatures to finish. 30 needed to be built and converted during May so it tooke me a bit of time.
I hope they will be worthy and the time spent on them.

Untill next time, take care everyone.

Sybou's More Albion madness! Pikemen and Giant! Troops (335 points)

Rank & File #4

Hello everyone,

I made good progress on my army. I just got one thing to say:

BOLLOCKS!!!!

That's it, i painted my Albion's giant. This big guy will give strength to defend the Island. Dogs of war and the Empire can try to find our treasures ...

He s kind of the center piece of the army, i m cool with his painting. Looking pretty good to me.

Then I finished my pikemen:

Command group

I gave a boar to the banner. I found some pictish banner on the internet and i kinda like it. The harp of the musician is pretty nice. They all have some tartans here and there.

Here they are, all gathered. I still have difficulties to make good regiment/ group photos. There are still some blurries part in the photos.

Pretty happy with the final results, a whole converted regiment. Glad to have a final result of this project.

Here are the whole army untill now! They're in the same position of the first photo in January.

Druid and clansmen

Focus on the giants of the clan

I'm pretty happy with all of them. A good crew of clansmen to defend the island. 1113 points painted for now.

But you re all thinking, but everything got painted??? But we still have 2 or 3 months for the challenge!

Get ready for the wildcard month:

Cloud giant, coming through ...

Sybou month 2 - Albion (135 points)

 Rank & file month # 2

Hello everyone, back in February for this new month.

A small month for me, just some clansmen for one of my unit.

I inspired myself on this kind of guys from Lord of the rings:

I always thought of Albion people like Dunlendings or Hillmen (never understood the differences between the 2 races anyway).

15 clansmen on 20

I trained myself on sculpting clothes on these naked guys who are originally foundry berserkers from the Vikings Range.

I'm not disappointed by the final results for now but I still need to complete the command group for March.

Once again, they're mainly red hair. With their frenzy and their huge axes, these guys can do a lots of damage on the battlefield. In the book Giantslayer with Gotrek and Felix, they've the company of some Albion's people, if I remember correctly they had claymores. I might read it again soon just to keep me in the Albion Fever.

That's all for this month, thank you for reading. Take care everyone.

Sybou Albion (354 points)

Rank & File month #1

Hello everyone,

once again we gathered to honour the challenge of the year!

As I said in my intro post, this year i was really willing to create something unique and the Albion army got created.

I hope you will appreciate the creativity behind the project: choices of miniatures, colours and more ...

I was willing to start with the skirmishers who represent 60 points:

10 fighters unorganized but ready to fight!

So these guys got blue painting on their bodies, a little wink to Mel Gibson Braveheart. I like the two firbolgs coming from alternative miniatures. They're kind of scary. I chose to give them a lots of blond and red hairs.

Lots of Albion Clan include various kind of warriors, the Albion men are not known to work as regiments most of the time.

Patrolling through the moors, marshes and other dangerous land ask for light equipements. It is known that Albion's Kings and Lords ask to groups of men from small villages to act as skirmishers, scouts or spies.

A little close-up on the tartans.

Then as the month of January is always the one where i put lots of efforts in order to make a big step in my project, I also painted my heroes!

Druid lvl 1/ Druid lvl2/ Oracle

I really like these guys, they really represent what i had in mind when creating the army. The Oracle is a priestess of The Mother Godess, she's a direct Daughter of the Island and as such inspire the members of the army. She naturally acts as a great banner.

And finally, as I was in a roll, here are my little giants:

Some small giants

Wandering through the moors, these guys are some of the oldest inhabitants of the island. Several years of consanguinity reduced their size. But these creatures are still really dangerous and their stupidity can't make them even more dangerous.
Year after year, it is said that the druids have more difficulties to get them under control.

That's it for January, for next month I'm going to start my clansmen regiment, I might add a couple of bonus if the painting is going well.

Thank you for waching and reading.
Take care everyone.

Sylvain's Summon the clans ... Protect the island

Hello everyone,

here we are for my third year concerning Owac. These last years I horded lots of different armies. Some norses, Empire, chaos dwarves and even a few hobgoblins. But I chose something completely different.

All started when i got myself some hill giants for a ogres horde. But the project disappeared and I still have the little giants. I was like they could be cool in a Albion's army ... then i checked my leadboxe and i saw i still had some foundry berserkers. I originally wanted to use them as flagellants but my conversions weren't good and i gave up the idea.

They were here in all their naked glory and i though of some picts guys in the role playing game Pendragon:

I was saying to myself maybe i could gather a little force from Albion.
I first wanted to get myself the giant from blackhat miniatures but they sold their fantasy licence to bridge miniatures.

But the lad was out of stock and the guy owning the mould didn't answer me wether he was going to supply it or not.
Anyway i got myself ready for the new owac and here is the army:

The Albion's army

I based my army list on the Dogs of war army list which consist of :
1 druid (level 2 mage) - 95 pts
1 Paymaster - 59 pts
20 pikemen with command - 230 pts
10 skirmishers with shield - 60 pts
20 norse marauders with two handed weapon and command - 210 pts
4 ogres - 140 pts
1 giant - 205 pts

for a total of 999 pts

Characters

So here we have the level 2 mage the druid who s leading the army. Then the paymaster is the woman which is kind of a Boadicea / Nature Queen/ Mother Godess avatar thingie which is inspiring the men of Albion. Kind of a Slaine vibes here.

It is compulsatory to have a paymaster in a DoW army so here she is and she fits the thematic of the army.

Then I have this bonus Druid who s an elf from Grenadier. I'll add him as a bonus.

Clansmen and hill giants

These guys were kind of hard to convert. They're all based on foundry berserkers. The musician is from Perry miniatures, i was really willing to give the army at least one blowpipe.
I made some kilts to the clansmen with greenstuff and gave them bigger axes for a proper fantasy vibe.

The ogres are hill giants or small giants. In the story of the Albion's giants, we can see that their army include lots of different sizes giants and Hengus tried to fool the Tilean general by giving him to "small" giants. There are 2 ral partha ones (one being an ogre), a otherworld one and the grenadier famous guy. They make a cool crew.

As a bonus, I have this guy on the right that I will use as a Captain.

Pikemen

As these guy are the basic infantrymen, i was willing to have some loosy spearmen but i didn't find anything that really pleased me. I watched every lines of pictish/ scottish warriors but i never was really convinced. So I made conversions with Frostgrave barbarians. That's really rare for me to use plastic but I really wanted to have miniatures that I like so here they are with northstar pikes. The champion and banner are from Perry Miniatures and the musician is from Ral Partha.

Skirmishers

These guys are from Foundry and alternative miniatures. Just a random crew of brawlers that will jump on more organised regiments.
Then the center piece of the army:

The Giant

After much digging, I found myself one giant of Albion. It is really cool and big. It will defend the island with all its rocks.

A few weeks ago, I also ordered from Satyrart Studio the new cloud giant. It will give me 2 giants which the least I can do for an Albion's Army.

I already made a least to increase this army to a 2000 pts scale. But for now let's just do the first thousand points.

Then, here is my offer for the Overlord:

A proud Albion Warrior ready to cross the Ocean!

I just want now to wish you all some merry holidays and happy christmas. Let's end this cursed year and try to start I better one.
Take care of yourselves.
Cheers

Sybou's wrap up post

Hello everyone,

that's it, end of owac for me too!

That is my second owac and i'm pretty proud of what I accomplished. A whole complete army of Daemons! My first whole army entirely painted.

That was a big challenge but i did it.
With luck most of the daemons are one color each and dont have much details so it helped a lot.

I'm still hesitating for the next year army but I will surely go toward chaos dwarves.
That was really cool to see all the other contestants army blogs, I really enjoyed skavens armies and Jaeckel Alone's crusade.

But congratulations to everyone for all the painting done. We did great!

Until next time i'm letting you with my partners.

Grrrrrrr ... Soon ... Soon ...

Sybou's month of June - Complete army of daemons (270 points)

Hello everyone,

after a break in May, i'm coming back to end the 2020 challenge.

I finally finished the last daemons i own, making this army, the first complete army i totally finished painting!

That's a big success!

So for this month I finished painting 9 plaguebearers:

Here is the complete army of 30 guys. the last guys were 1 old guy and 8 new plastic ones. The mix of plaguebearers is quiete fun. They look pretty good.
I imagine they can tank a lots of damage before vanishing.

Then I have the slaanesh chariot:

The good old chaos warrior chariot with slaanesh mounts. Originally i was willing to make a unit of daemonettes but i had difficulties getting a load of them so i just put the ladies on the chariot making myself a least one slaaneshy unit.
Fluffwise, these two are officaly here to judge the army and to give an opinion wether yes or not the chaos Prince should support it. Officiously they're spying on Dechalah. If She succeded in escaping her khornate jailers, they shall fall on her and bring her back.

I didn't really know how i was going to paint them. But the bald one made me think to an old movie:

Planète sauvage is an old animation french movie about an old race of giants that use men as pets. I really love the movies of these guy as they are kind of alien and bring a new imagination. I would especially advise you Gandahar:

It is pretty weird but full of cool ideas. I especially love the head building and i'm willing to build a scenery representing it.

Then i'm adding to the army, this small unit of 5 gargoyles. I painted them before the challenge but they are part of the army and here they are.

Finally, here is the whole army!!! The palanquin left to join the chaos warriors army. Such a coward.
Here a couple of close up shots:

That's it guys. Owac 2020 is almost over, i'm glad i participate for this year again. Next time I will go with a more regular army because this guys totalise like more of 3000 pts. But daemons are really expensive and it was a more a challenge to paint all the army so i can say that I did it!

Thank you Iannick for an other successful owac and until next month take care guys.
Cheers,
Sybou

Sybou's daemons - Month n°4 - (335 points)

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing all right in this strange times.

I'm going further in my progress of my daemons' army, the challenge here is not to paint 1000 pts but to paint all of them!

So last month, I show you that i still needed to paint 17 miniatures and for this months I have 3!

But these guys are important, so to start, here is the bloodletter's champion, Dechalas the threacherous one:

She's always angry!

In the lore of the army, Dechalah got seduced by Khorne and betrayed the Prince of chaos. But Khorne is a hard master and now he forces her to fight until the end. The bloodletters of her regiment act also as wardens if for whatever reasons she chose to betray an other God.

The real reason for me to choose her as the bloodletters' champ was because I didn't have an other miniature and my choice was to take her or to sell her for a couple of bucks, so here she is.

The great Vizier

It's always good to have someone that can advise you with cunning ideas and mischievous plans.

The Great Vizier is following my Lord in order to gain politic powers over other great unclean ones. The problem he has is that he didn't reach the Rank of Major Daemon and he's still very small. For now, he's serving but he swear that he will take over the Caliph's place.

The Great Caliph Abdul Alzeroth

Supreme leader of the Second cohort from the fifth Circle of the Laughing God, the Great Caliph Leads his daemons for Glory and Politics in the great chaotic game of Life.
Wise and patient, he's often torn apart between the advices of his Vizier and of his living weapon that is always telling him to bash someone in the HEAD!

I'm pretty happy with this big guy from Knightmare Game. He's really faithfull to the art seen in the RoC books. He's really cool and i'm glad to have him the Leader of my force.

Now, for May I still have 3 plaguebearers to finish (6 done for now) and the Slaanesh chariot.

I will use June as the conclusion month and i will be able to tell all of you that I finally finish a complete warhammer army!!!

Thanks for watching and reading.
Cheers and take care guys.

Sybou s daemons - the month of March (380 pts)

Hello everyone,

this was a crazy month for all of us.
Surprisingly i didn't have much to time to progress but I still managed to do it.

This month, i m giving you 19 bloodletters.

The Khorne infantry is almost done but the champion didn't make it for the month.

Good old red bloodletters.

These guys bring me back to the 90's with their He Man bodies, super muscular. Far from the strange bodies of the bloodletters from Realms of Chaos books.
If i could have chosen i would have liked to have the older ones but they re much harder to find in comparison of these guys that we can find for really cheap. Nobody wants them anymore.

But I still like them for nostalgia sake and the fact they re not bad minis.

Here i give you a couple of photos of my army so far. They re all very colorful, they're good fun. :) It s the first time i m doing an army with so much varieties in colour. I did really simple colour schemes but i like the result so far. The khorne guys are going well together. I ll give the boys their champion for next month.

Finally, here is what's left to paint!
My lord, the Daemon Prince,
Some plastic plaguebearers and an old great unclean one,
A slaanesh chariot far to be finished.

After that i would be glad to say I finally finished a whole army for Warhammer! It will be a really festive day, i'm sure about that. But not sell bearskin before killing it, I still have 17 guys to paint.

Keep it real guys and keep painting.
