Hi everyone. I regret to inform you that unfortunately I will have to call time on my old world army challenge.
I'd have to say my work being increasingly busy has played the biggest part in this decision; I have been working every day recently and have been too drained to pick up a smaller paint brush in the evenings.
Secondly, my final installment has been looking doubtful as a) I haven't even managed to buy all the figures for my dwarf unit and b) I haven't even decided on which figures to use for my cavalry, let alone buy them.
Finally, I have to admit that I'm feeling pretty burnt out with painting Empire right now. I think the unit of halberdiers last month brought that on. I didn't want this project to end up rushed and a chore.
It's a real shame I've had to come to this decision when the end is in sight. I must look at the positives on the other hand. I had planned on starting a Border Princes army last year anyway and had it not been for the challenge I confess wouldn't have got as far with it as I have done, I know what I'm like and I'd have probably painted half of what you've seen before taking a break from it and tackling something else.
The challenge is indeed just that. It takes commitment and a lot of focus and I've been mightily impressed at the efforts of you guys! It's been a massive success and you all deserve the praise you get.
I wish you all the luck to get yourselves over the finishing line. You can do it!
Note from the Challenge Overlord : After discussing with Ed, I decided to let him stay in the challenge, even though he's used his mulligan already. So close to the end, and Ed have produced such brilliant work, I felt it would be a shame for him to drop out at this point. I suggested that he stay in, and he accepted. Consequently, Ed will produce one last entry for us in April, and obviously be allowed to post his wrap-up post, with his completed army.

Ed's Border Prince Halberdiers - 208 points
I'm pleased to say that the most challenging installment is done and dusted. This month sees the arrival of 15 halberdiers including champion, standard bearer and drummer.

Ed's Mulligan Enforced - But the future is still bright!
Well I was expecting to play my mulligan next month but work has tied me up for the majority of January and my purse strings have been so tight (getting over Christmas, missus' birthday in January, Son's birthday in early February blah blah blah)
I've not even bought my next planned unit (cavalry). In fact I've only found time to paint 8 figures plus a banner (halberdiers) in January.
However, if I can move on with my halberdier unit they should see completion by the end of this month and then tackle the cavalry in March so all is not lost.
Keep up the good work though guys! It's been a hefty output this month - again!

Ed's Border Princes Artillery (200pts)
Well that was close. A week ago I was staring down the barrel of a mulligan. There I was a month ago thinking December would be a breeze, all that time off. Didn't really turn out quite like that; too much time spent in the boozer over Christmas.
Anyway, I'm there. This month I've opted for both artillery pieces - a great cannon and volley gun.

Ed's Border Princes - November 200 Pts
Hello everyone.
I've just about scraped home for the first month even if it is a mere four figures. This installment does include the army commander so I did want to make sure he in particular was given my full attention.

Ed's Border Princes Confederacy
Howdy folks.
I have to admit I was never expecting to be involved in an army painting challenge anytime soon - if ever.
I've always envisaged the idea as pretty daunting and something I'd lose heart with all too soon. Anyway, enough of the negative vibe; it's all positivity from here on!
It's helped that I've crossed off quite a few long term projects over recent months which has freed me up nicely for this gig. Anyway, here's a quick background on myself.
I first got into all this nonsense back in 1984 at the tender age of 8. I'll admit I've always been more of a painter than a gamer but played enough over the 80's and 90's; mainly Blood Bowl, Necromunda and 40k. Warhammer Fantasy Battle was never played too often as only one of my mates and I had sizeable armies.
I was lucky enough to win a couple of Golden Demon trophies in the late 90's and have steadily build up the painted collection over the years. With my mates having moved away years back, gaming has become non existent but the hunger for painting goes on. I was unaware of any Oldhammer community until I stumbled across it all a few years ago and realised how many folks out there were still holding a candle to all the classic old stuff and began to discover the many wonderful and inspirational blogs out there. So in late 2013 I started my own one, The Work Of Shaitan
