Hello everyone,
I was quite happy to see the Skull Catapults (Stone Throwers) as Rank and File in the Warhammer Armies 3rd edition book. I already have a painted one and had three left in my pile of undead shame, so now was the perfect time to add them to my OWAC Ocho army. One was incomplete and I took two horizontal poles from the original plastic skeleton kit to complete the missing parts.
I made the bases with the skull and hands from a plastic Halloween skeleton toy, some bark pieces for the rocks, pink DryDex spackling and a mix of coco fiber and Army Painter Steppe grass. I am very pleased with the result. I don't like the clean silver armour look for undead so I'm using that rusty recipe again.

Two months left and I am very optimistic to paint everything I planned, a few extra included.
These old figures are full of charm and menace in equal amounts. The skull chucker is a fantastic model and I am jealous to see you have three painted up and ready to field. Top work! (:
ReplyDeleteI've always loved these minis and your vignettes are so full of character and narrative. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteNice job! The brilliant basing really makes this screaming skull battery feel like a unit :D
ReplyDeleteCarry on like this and I just get a few skellies myself, well done
ReplyDeleteSkull Chuckers are perhaps my favorite war machines-and iconic in any case. The bases are a great addition and make them feel like mini dioramas. Your rust effects continue to impress me.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant bases, and a good job making three identical models look more interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, the basing looks excellent. Nice work in the bone colour variations. The giant looks like he's been bleached by the sun, and the animated bones look old and musty 👌
