Brennan's Closing Post

Ol' Rot Guts rolling fungus party....

Well, it's time to sum up this army and look to getting it onto the field!  When I started, I wanted to get my orcs and gobbos (which I have been hoarding off and on for year) on the table.  What that means, for our little group, is a legal 2,000 pt army per Warhammer Armies (3rd ed) with all the force requirements.  We like a strong focus on the rank and file of the armies and have found that we get that at 2k, alteast with the armies we have used...  So, I painted up all of the required troops and an extra unit or two to help round out what I want in the army, all while trying to keep my monthly totals achievable.

BUT!  I missed a trick.  Some of the armies that I have seen painted during the challenge have had some nice center piece or snazzy special unit to make them standout.  I had an extra bit of time, so I had a dig trough the pile and decided to do an orc wolf chariot...  The lads are a bit crammed in on it, but its fun and all should fear a fella with a watering can...

So what did I do...
24 Gobbos w/ shield mus & st - 91
24 stikkas w/ mus & st - 91
20 Boys w/ halberd mus & st - 231
20 Arrer boys w/ light armor shield mus & st - 231
4 Goblin fanatics - 120
2 Trolls- 130
10 Wolf boys w short bow - 100
Level 10 orc- 66
Level 5 gob shaman -45

Orc Chariot (otherwise known as a rolling fungus party).... 82 with scythed wheels
For 1,087 points...

Ok, so are we ready to go?  I dunno, I think I need to bulk the gobbo units up to 30, just to make them less vulnerable.  I want to bring the orcs with polearms up to 24ish...  (Orcs don't count great).  I also need the boar boys, a man mangler and a scull crusher...  I'd love to bring in 3 gob chariots too...  Does that work piont wise?  Not sure yet!  I'll have to capture and enslave a hoomie or stunty to do the math for me...  See, I should have done more showcase work during the challenge!

As a final note, a huge thank you to the organizers who put in way more work than me to create a fantastic challenge.  I greatly appreciate that.  And a special thank you to the other challengers, especially those who did that little extra to keep the group motivated.

    1. Thanks! It was fun and not so much that I could squeeze in a few other things as the months went along.

    1. Thanks! As you know, that's the one advantage to gobbos. You get lots of them.

  4. Nice finish to the challenge, I also have the watering can guy. Your Orc Army sounds similar to mine, I bought tones of war machines and chariots back in the day. Have yet to build them. Hopefully we'll hear about your lads exploits soon.

    1. I really think that this era of orcs and gobs is the best ever done. The chariots and other war machines are so full of character that the modern stuff just seems bland.
