Joshua's January Update#1: Slaanesh Beastmen Unit (437 points)

The end of the month is here, so here is the beastmen unit as promised.

20x beastmen with standard (273) and a Lvl 15 hero (164) = 437 points total.

I found the painting process creative as chaos gives me some freedom that other armies don't have in terms of colours and designs etc.

I used a white primer for the miniatures given that the pastels of their fur and clothing would be a factor to consider. I usually prime in dark grey and have only gone back to white as a primer recently and really have enjoyed the change. Painting the gold NMM using a simple sepia ink wash over the white gives an effective, yet convincing result I found.
The banner is a conversion from some plastic banners a very kind guy from France sent to me to help me out so a big shout out to Jean Fancois Delaive for his generous support as the banner makes the unit complete in my chaotic eyes.

In reflection, I wish I had painted some of the skins or furs in blacks to break up the blue/pink colours. But I still like how the unit looks overall. and I could have spent a lot more time pouring over the details and freehand and the shields, but time is my greatest enemy in life now and the lotto numbers turned up fruitless lol.

Now time to get the thugs out of the storage box and ranked up on the paint table to await their slaanesh transformation.

  1. The pastels pinks and blues look great, man! I agree with you about the NMM sepia tones on the gold, too. Nice work.

  7. These look great, sweet sculpts given the proper care an attention they deserve. Hopefully I'll get to play against them before you ship them off
