JamesP's Empire spearmen (240 pts)

Rank & File #1

First month complete…YAY!!

Here is my first unit of spearmen done and ready for muster. I apologise for the short post this month. I’ll make up for it next month with a bit of back story.

23 Ersatzsolder – (champion, musician and standard) – 240pts - The Widow Makers

· Spear, Light Armour, Shield

Helmer Voight: Level 5 hero

· Heavy Armour, two-handed sword

Last OWAC I concentrated on the required units for an Empire army. My goal was to make those units have a uniform appearance. This year my entry consists of volunteer units and mercenaries. Although not wearing a uniform there are aspects that tie these new units to the old. The shields are painted in the yellow and white of Solland and the command models are dressed in the same colours.

  1. Knowing you receive all your figures on Christmas, that's quite an impressive output!

Love the shield, the banner and the overall look. Very striking

  2. You got everything on Xmas! That was a lot of cleaning and priming to do too! Great looking unit!

  3. There's a lot to be said for simple bases, and yours look very effective. Great job on the pinstripes, and such a clean yellow. Nice One!

  4. These are really great! I'm a sucker for human medievals - my "Bretonnian" army is made of historical 13th century feudals. I like the strong colour scheme and the heraldry. Are the shields made with custome decals or did you freehand panted them all?

  5. Such a lovely continuation of the colour scheme from the previous OWAC. Its so well executed and so 'clean'. Really classic minis and a lovely paint job - i hope you post the whole army up at the end of the challenge :-)

  6. These look great James - I always have a soft spot for underdogs like volunteer regiments and peasant levies so your entry for this year's OWAC is right up my street! Good effort getting them in shape since their arrival at Christmas too!
