I noticed that the enamel had dried glossy on same parts like the weapons handles and corrected that with some matt varnish after the photo shoot. I still don't know why the enamels some time dry matte and some time glossy!
No banner for them because they don't have one in the Army Book and there's no command group models for them. They might get one later though once these arrive.
These Wraiths on the other hand are very familiar to me. I think I had most if not all of these sculpts back in the day. Like I said before, nothing was cooler than a Grim Reaper back then.
I painted them like the ones in the army book, though with a bit more muted color palette.
I also painted some more skeletons I had laying around. Gotta get some more bones for those Raise the Dead spells! These were painted exactly like the ones on my January post.
But after a week or the mini comes alive. Well okay, undead but you get it.

Lovely work on all these classic minis. I can't decide if I like the glorious purple-skinned vampire more than the excellent wraiths or vice versa. Maybe green robed wraith is my favourite? And then the big block of mummies has real impact, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Funnily the green Wraith is my least favorite, though that might because of his sculpt. He's more funny than intimidating :)
DeleteAh, I love it! The vampire looks flipping ace - the texture on the cloth and the shadows on the cape. Glorious stuff.
ReplyDelete(I've got my fingers crossed for that classic White Dwarf cardboard mausoleum!)
Cheers! It seems my plans for more terrain will get pushed for June, I've been too busy painting non-OWAC models this on May. Risky business, I know! :)
DeleteAbsolutely stunning and inspiring as usual! Great work on all the flowing capes, especially on the Vampire. So buttery smooth! And that flaming sword is just the icing on the cake. I love how you've brought vibrance to a faction that's normally quite dark
ReplyDeleteThanks! As someone who grew up with the 4th ed Army Books I seem to be unable not to paint some bright colours on them :)
DeleteNice work on the cloak. And the hills. And the skellies. And the wraiths. All great in fact
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks!
DeleteGreat work! I love that vampire and the Wraiths are really effective!
ReplyDeleteCheers! I originally intended for the Wraiths to be a bit darker but it seems I couldn't resist adding some colour.
DeleteWhat an amazing month once again. Your project has been absolutely stunning so far, and I suppose it was only natural that alongside the leader month you also painted a rank-and-file month while at it. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Luckily the end is near, I've spent most of my free time with the Undead and I'm keen to do something else for a chance. Like read a book or exercise :D
