"Eyyy, Squeezit, wozzat you've got?"
"Banna, innit? 'S'got a cockroach on it, show dem 'umies 'ow 'ard we is ta kill!"

"Franz, can you make out what's approaching?"
"Certainly, Heinrich. A rabble of goblins, marching under a cockroach banner. Seems they've recognized what utter vermin they are."
Rank and File Month #3
Managed a very productive month this month - a dozen Kev Adams-sculpted goblins from Knightmare Games, and four of Satyr Art Studios' delightfully dimwitted Bog Trolls, with a bonus "Orcling" from Wargames Foundry under their Warmonger imprint, and a Warlord Games "Landsknecht Casualty" painted in the colors of the Old World's Averland Province. A buddy of mine locally has been talking about doing an Averland army, so I had to sneak in a little friendly ribbing where I could.
The Trolls were an absolute delight, and it was a challenge to select just four from the nearly-dozen Satyr Art Studios offers. I finally settled on two fairly aggressive, competent-looking trolls and two absolute morons - one standing around picking his teeth, and another knuckle-deep in his own prominent nose.As a bonus, three of the four fit Warhammer's history of satire - they comprise the "Bogsiteers," namely "Nyjull," "Borish" and "Jakubb."
So as to not just have 120mm frontage of empty bases, I adjusted one troll's feet to allow him to stand on a dead Averlander, and "Bogie," the troll performing brain surgery on himself, received a companion in the form of a similarly-engaged Orcling. Adds a pop of color and more than a little humor to them, in my opinion.
"The Contest," a mini-diorama |
Not a whole ton to say about the goblins, I went for brighter shades than I did for my orcs with their clothes, but kept them similarly dirty with washes. A lot of these guys have tiny rivets on their tunics and that was time-consuming to paint but honestly I'm very happy with them. And as top-heavy as he is with that sculpted banner, I love the sculpt on the standard bearer. I'm assuming the severed head on the banner pole belonged to the previous standard bearer, who didn't take his flag-waving responsibilities seriously enough.
So totals for March:
- 12 Goblins, light armor, standard and musician - 56 points
- 4 Trolls - 260 points
Total: 316 points
I also have Drew's Troll and can too express how excellent they are, bit fiddly to essemble but easy to paint, don't recognise the goblins. Well done sir
