Blue's Marauder Boar Boys, Leader Month (320 pts)

Leader month

Well...here we are! I wasn't 100% sure I was going to make it this year!

But! I'm happy to present my final submission for this years OWAC....and you might say I saved the best for last because this months post is the Command section for my entire army.  This little group includes the General, the Army Standard Bearer, and 3 Snortas for protection...all mounted on BARDED boars!  how cool is that?!?!

Here they Are!

The General sits atop an Albino Boar of immense proportion...the Boar is clad in scale Mail and the General swings an enormous blade.

This rider was originally intended to be mounted on a Wyvren (MB8)...but I like him as a leader for my Boar Boys and he is mounted on the boar that came with the Marauder Boar Boy General (MM22/6)...who I have retained for this unit as the Standard Bearer

And here is the aforementioned Standard Bearer...he comes mounted on one of Clam's Barded Boars...as will the rest of the this unit.

And here are some individual shots of the rest of the crew.

As you may have noticed a couple of these are "conversions" to being boar boys.  Both the first and the last of these three figures are potential crew members of the Marauder Orc Battle Chariot (MB6). the archer option was incorporated into the mounted archer unit of this army...and the wolves were used in the wolf boyz units painted in 2020. (NOTE if anyone has a spare of the Driver with whip for this chariot model please let me know...I have a boar with his name on it!)

So I obviously have a little bit of basing to finish up before the full army reveal ...and just in processing these images I've seen a few things that I need to clean up (base edges etc.) ...its a little obvious that I was rushing to complete this months troops!

Also I completed this big batch of shields that will be used to finish off the rest of the troops.

Points:

  • Level 20 General and 4 Snortas all mounted on Boars with Barding 284pts
  •  18 Shields for Gruntas and Snorta 36pts
  •  Total 320pts

I'm excited to get these all on that table and get an ARMY shot!!

Congrats to all who made it!!

Cheers,

 Blue

  2. Oh! Oh, that's some fine back bacon there. The big ol' albino boar is an especially nice touch for a general figure, stands out proper bo like. I'm going to have to remember that.

    1. thanks...I needed something to separate him from the "herd" because hes crouched posture really diminishes the rider itself...I think this worked well.

  3. Those are some very nice orcs on pigs, Blue! I really like how you've repurposed various monster riders and charioteers for this army!

  4. Wonderful stuff Blue - love the variety with the charioteers and the Big Boss looks great on his new Stef. Must get me some of Clam's boars - lovely miniatures! Cracking end too the challenge and can't wait to see them all together!

    1. Those Boars of some of my favorite Pickford Sculpts from the last five years...they are amazing. I think they are being picked up by Old School Minis so should be available soon through that new outlet.

  10. Great finale! (The barded boars reminds me a little of the human pretend boars from the film Princess Mononoke).
    Anyhow- lovely work, as ever!
