Chris' Empire Army Post OWAC Wrap-up

Lots of great painting on display during the past 6 months from the other participants.

I had a lot more fun than expected, the deadlines of mostly painting were excellent motivation. February was my best month with 100 miniatures painted!

Completed army list below,
Klaus, Count Palantine Von Reikland Lvl 25, riding Hippogriff 334
Paschalis von Eichschatten - Lvl 10, riding barded warhorse 68
10 Knights of the Blazing Sum 390
10 Knights of the Black rose 310
20 Reiksguard 220
10 Hackbutschutzen (Handgunners) 80
60 Ersatsolder lead by Burgomeister Reinhard standard and musician 709
20 Helblitzen 180
20 Helblitzen 180
12 Flagellants 108
10 Forestjaegers 120

Total 2699

Picking an army with white uniforms and black armour proved to be less difficult than I expected.  The main thing I learnt was how to paint faster, using an airbrush for undercoats, contrast paints for almost everything else and simple bases that can be completed easily.

The next project is already started - to complete my Grenadier dwarf army that I started at age 14 and have recently added a lot of new miniatures.

Would defiantly like to complete another OWAC in the future.  Maybe either the Nick Lund Orcs and Goblins next or the Slann army next, time to decide later.

I'll bring the army to BOYL next week, see you there if you are attending!

  4. So much army! It looks so impressive laid out like that, it almost tempts me to go back and add to my Middenheimers. And they don't have a lovely camp like that, either

  6. I've really enjoyed your project Chris - a real testament to what the OWAC can help you achieve and a proper old school wargaming army. Top stuff :)
