Slargash was humming with satisfaction - his troops were on the march. The thumping sound of steel boots and hooves brought terror to the hearts of peasants unlucky enough to cross their path. Last weeks had proven to be beyond his wildest expectations as he had seen his forces grow with creatures he hadn't even known to roam these parts of the Northen Wastes. The gorgon sent by those nice still, still, still unnamed Dark Elves was a particular surprise. He was eager to send them all to battle... but no, he was not to take part. He had been teased to be Slargash the White for too long. Next time he'll command his forces on the battlefield he will be coloured in full and they will call him Slargash the Defiler, Slargash the Great, Slargash of Many Colours!
And hello from me too! It has been a very pleasant month. I really enjoyed painting these models even though I didn't finish everything I intended. I claimed I will paint the army standard this month but there's nothing to worry, I have started the banner and will finish it sooner or later. And the above story is also true, those Dark Elves really sent the gorgon and the painted part of this Chaos army will march to its first battle tomorrow!
Here is my month:
I finished 16 Chaos Warriors including a standard, a gorgon (aka a medusa, not a steel bull) and two trolls.
This month in points:
- 16 warriors with standard: 1258 points
- Gorgon: 110 points
- 2 trolls: 130 points
Total so far 3137 points, 72 models
Until next month - Slargash has to keep waiting as I have other plans for May!
Nice shields!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad you like them!
DeleteSome of the used imagery make me a bit more nervous than others though. As a disclaimer I might add that I'm writing a story that's about inclusion and against patriarchal oppression (as will be more evident in the coming months).
The shields (and the painting in general) are brilliant! I really like how the painting complements the basing and you get a real sense of the kind of environment these heinous beings inhabit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, this has been easily the most enjoyable month of painting so far. I'm glad you like the bases, I will probably rebase months 1-3 with this concept
DeleteGosh - there is so much wonder to enjoy here! Those trolls are oozing character! And as everyone has said, the shields add so much. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The trolls have been the most enjoyable painting experience I've had in a long while. Truly lovely sculpts that practically painted themselves
DeleteFor a months effort, you've done yourself proud, well done
ReplyDeleteThank you! I had a lot of fun painting this month and it helps to see the finish line too.
DeleteLovely color scheme- great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lissanne, I'm glad you like the colors! I was glad to finally get my brushes on these models
DeleteSome proper good colouring going on here!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm glad you like them! I've had a blast colouring these models and I hope it shows!
DeleteBrilliant update! The trolls are great. The white helmets on the chaos warriors are unusual and you carried them off perfectly. And so glad you got the gorgon in!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The gorgon was the first model I painted for this month as I just had to include her. The vampire headed into Mordheim and is gathering his own warband there.
DeleteGreat understated colour scheme on the Chaos Warriors. Those splashes of colour and white really work well and make the unit coherent. Really nice work on the shields too.
ReplyDeleteThe Trolls are just the icing on the cake - super productive month, with a load of quality painting!
Thank you! This warrior unit has been at the back of my mind from December and in a way this was my main month.
DeleteAwesome! Very old school vibe!
ReplyDeleteThanks, trying to keep it real!
DeleteThat is a really lovely selection of old lead and some brilliantly subtle paintjobs to get the most out of the sculpts. Shields are top notch too. Excellent work all round!
ReplyDeleteThank you! This months collection included some models I have long wanted to paint and also the oldest pieces of lead too. I'm glad you liked the colouring I gave them.
DeleteA wonderful array of chaos. Great figures and great painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have had some luck in collecting and love painting these classics
