Nathan’s Evil Dark Elf Army - wrap up post

Seven old world army challenge’s done and dusted. I know I’ve completed all of these - any others? Anyway I’ve spent July painting up some additional figures to include in my army which has been good as I managed to get them done. Exception being the crew for the chariot but the important thing for me was getting the chariot done itself. Enough crapping on from me - here are the figures including the Bryan Ansell inspired army pic:

Megadeth shirt circa 1988 and dodgy handbars moustache is appropriate for the wrap up post!

Unit of crossbows I painted up prior to the challenge

Temple Dog I did prior to the challenge - rider is new though

Last lot of cold one riders

The very rare dark elf chariot

I have to note how happy I am painting all these figures, especially the chariot. The latter isn’t the best mini citadel ever did (the sculpting is pretty rough) but I still think the model is extremely cool. If only I could get my hands on the alternate crew which appear (from the pics on the net at least) to be far better than the crew that were sold with the chariot…

Skål's wrap up post "Release the Chaos"

Another OWAC in the books. This one was pretty awesome. I feel like I painted up quite a few of the units I have really been wanting to paint for a really long time. I will be using these units for games of 2nd as well as 3rd edition 40k. While I feel like I have accomplished quite a bit, I have only put a small dent in the pile of Chaos I want to get done. With that, the shirt is a hint at what I will be working on next OWAC as I feel like I need to do part two of my Chaos Forces.

Yesterday, I had a package arrive, and much to my surprise, it was a lovely painted miniature from Bill. Thank you very much dude, he will be added to my Dwarf army as a "taller" dwarf.

Of course, I had to do one more red light photo and I really wanted a photo of the big guy amongst his crew.

These Bloodletters will be a big part of next year's Chaos forces. I may have to paint another 10 just in case.

I think you get a true measure of the size of the Nurgle Chaos Lord when he is standing among his followers. He is going to be an awesome sight on the table and a force to be reckoned with.

I was so happy that this tribute to my Maryland gaming crew came out. I had envisioned them. It was awesome that my buddies chose the Renegade that they wanted to represent them on the field of battle.

These classic Nurgle Marines were so awesome to paint and I think I am going to have to paint a few more units of them to have the Nurgle tide roll over all who oppose them.

To all of the challengers that completed this grand OWAC, congratulations, to those that have fallen I raise my horn to you Skål.

Khârn the Betrayer will rise next OWAC.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Khorne is with me. (From my shirt in the photo).

PaulM - Mórr's Wild Hunt - Wrap-Up

The Heart Tree bleeds.

The Heart Tree bleeds, red in the dappled sunlight of the forest.

The Heart Tree bleeds because she is in pain. The forest is in pain. Athel Loren is in pain!

Invaders, intruders, interlopers! They come with axe and they come with fire; and so, the Heart Tree bleeds.

They come with violence and fury, and animal lusts. Raging against all that is true and beautiful; and so, the Heart Tree bleeds.

But she is not defenceless. No, this forest has violence and fury of its own. And deep within its Glades it rises. The Kindreds have come!

They anoint themselves in the blood of the Heart Tree so as they might share its pain as they redouble it upon its enemies. They move, swift and silent as thought, between towering trunks and across mighty boughs. They rise with the creaking of branches in a summer storm, and cracking of earth under the hottest sun.

Athel Loren goes to war!

So, I'm now a two time OWAC veteran eh? Peachy.

It's a been a slog though if I'm honest. Despite only painting a slack handful of miniatures, I'm bloody sick of the sight of them. But still quite proud of the little force I've managed to muddle through regardless.

So what does that final force look like I hear nobody ask? Well, it comes out something like this:

Mórr 'The Slayer' - Wood Elf General                             166pts

Cruath 'The Truth Sayer' - Mage Champion                    121pts

No-Mórr 'The Demoted' - Archer Champion                   56pts

Scarloc - 'The Aged' - Scout Champion                           56pts

5 Scouts - 'The Pine Glades Kindred'                               80pts

15 Archers - 'The Pine Crags Kindred'                            187pts

5 Glade Riders - 'The Kindred of Equos'                        210pts

16 Dryads - 'The Wizened Ones'                                     560pts

Treeman - 'Groth The Gnarled'                                        280pts

TOTAL (sans magic items etc.)                                                      1,716pts

Points as per the 4th Edition army book, though these will mostly see service in 6th Edition and The Old World (where it comes out somewhere around 1,300pts under the same conditions).

So, points wise, a little more than I thought I'd manage. And model wise a little less. I still have bits and pieces I would like to do, but they will have to wait a little while until I'm back in the mood for green...

Anyway - Army Shot and Ansell (RIP) pose. This was taken at this year's BOYL (an appropriate place for an Ansell pose if there ever was one!), thank you to the lady who took it for me, all credit goes to them...but I'm sorry I forgot to ask your name!

And a wee shot of the army as a whole:

Next year? Well, there's that Undead thing I wanted to do...oh and that 2nd ed Khorne Berzerker army...or maybe finish off my Chaos army from my first OWAC (I bought so many knights)...or maybe just chill a year.

Seriously, I'm a glacially slow painter with limited time; this has meant I have painted nothing but these elves for the past seven months. And it is making me reconsider if I want to take part again. But never say never.

Congratulations to all my follow competitors. You've all produced some absolutely stunning forces of which you should be very proud. I hope to see some of them in the flesh some time and maybe we can throw some dice and push little toy soldiers around.

Peace.

Mustafa’s Beakies: Wrap Up. Why paint one army when you can paint two?

Should’ve done this a few day ago, but better late than never I say!

It’s nice to have a finished RT looking space marine army, especially one that includes some tanks.

I had quite a lot of fun painting these. The sculpts are lovely BigMrTong ones (aside from the HQ and squad leaders), and were an absolute joy to paint. They lent themselves very well to drybrushing and washes as they have lots of interesting lines and details compared to the old RTB01 lads.

So, as the title suggests, I actually painted two armies at the same time. The second one is a small 1st company Ultramrine force. The squads are all three-man ones as I’ll be using the army for One Page Rules. I was tempted to do them in the same colour scheme, but I wanted to avoid boredom.

Anyway, here are some pics :)

What’s next for the Emperor’s finest? Well, I reckon they need some fast support so it’ll be jump packs and speeders next year!

Chris P's Ork Horde - OWAC VII Wrap-Up

I'm calling this year a success. I ended up painting a slightly different selection of minis from the initial plan (added the freebooters, more grots and a support weapon, but left the buggies and boars for a future project), although I'm really happy with the variety of these guys. I like to think they look reasonably cohesive as well, even if they only thing they all share is brown boots!

The warboss's Goff Nob buddy was my pre-OWAC test model, and the Runtbot was a very kind gift from Ben F, so they don't count on my army list, but I've included them in the photos. Hopefully I've achieved my goal of creating something that might appear in a mid-90's White Dwarf.
