I recall purchasing these miniatures from Games World, Kings Street, Hammersmith, just down the road from the original Games Workshop store, Dalling Road, back in 1985 as I wandered between Games people play, Gamers in exile and many other London wargaming stores. Back then I was heavily into Warhammer second edition and thus seeking alternatives to GW's Fantasy Tribes and C series, as I considered Asgard of far better quality and much fairer priced, even back then, GW were expensive for my humble pocket. But it was a slow process of purchasing five to ten figures a week, until I had enough to consider actually painting them.
I'm unsure who the sculpted them, but Asgard were a starting point for some of the best Bryan Ansell, Jes Goodwin and Nick Bibby who found their way to GW and other manufacturers in and around Nottingham.
Unfortunately, painting them was the worst mistake, following my initial efforts, I considered my efforts and the results just didn't work! Below are a few which have not yet taken a bath. They and all the others were consigned to a storage box in various cupboards as I moved home, as I was loath to sell them, in hope that my painting would improve to a standard where I could do them justice
So, here I am, almost forty years on, considering having another go at splashing a little colour over these truely classic figures. I know there's enough of them to paint ten figures a week, surprisingly, there's almost enough to reach the target of a thousand points with troops, what will take me over the target are my leaders, but just in case to make up the numbers, I have a few Games Workshop Fantasy Tribe and C series green skins, which I'll drop some colour over. But the priority are the Asgard Orcs and Goblins.
As tribute in taking part in this years OWAC - I offer this fellow, which I picked up at Salute two years ago, in a spares box, really didn't deserve being placed there in my opinion, which I've quickly spread a little colour over.
My intention is to paint the following list, but that's very much dependent upon how well the cleaning operation goes!

Here's looking forward to the journey.
Proper old school minis with proper old school paint jobs and a proper dose of nostalgia - I'm very much looking forward to seeing these classics as fully painted units! :)
