Second month, and second batch of guards of Castle Wittgenstein, this time equipped with halberds. Again, simple conversions with head swaps and minor additions.
'Death on the Reik' illlustration by Martin McKenna |
As you can see, I have mostly used the halberdiers designed by the Perrys at the end of the 3rd edition era.
The standard bearer is a slight conversion of Sergeant Kratz model sold in the original scenario pack. Regarding the coat of arms of Wittgenstein's family, I have given up the idea of painting a quartered flag with the falling star and the wheat sheaf (can't afford more than one failure per month!).
Instead, I have used classic imperial patterns, adding a "W" on the two skulls:
In the end, the bare minimum (again!) for February, with 10 additional guards:
So far we have:
- 10 guards armed with crossbows: 100 points
- 10 guards armed with halberds, with standard bearer and musician: 108 points
See you in March with even cheaper models: the Wittgendorfers!
Your models are always on different level. Great work on the banner, the original coats of arms would have been great but even with the "classic" pattern is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteYep. Black crosses is the mark of previously failed banners :)
DeleteYour painting is flawless and that banner is really well painted!
ReplyDeletethanks Jaska
DeleteIt might be just 10 more guards but they're each a work of art
ReplyDeletestill 5 models converted They'll probably join the ranks of OWAC-ready but not painted miniatures
DeleteYou always manage to make everyone else look shabby, how do you do it? Amazing work as usual!
ReplyDeleteah ah! thanks Lissanne
DeleteWow! Stunning! The red really pops!
ReplyDeleteThe only touch of color with the green moss. This was the expected effect :p
DeleteI have followed your painting for years and love your NMM and Rackham style basing. Gorgeous work as usual.
ReplyDeletethanks Rob! Can't help doing the same bases, again and again :p
DeleteAwesome paintjob. The metal colour is similar to some of the cloth, but yet they're so distinct! Great work🔥💖
ReplyDeleteThanks! that's because I'm using almost the same grey tones for both. One difference for metal: a glaze of dark sea blue
DeleteI'm insanely jealous. Unbelievable good.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Xin!
DeleteBy far my favourite post till the beginning of this year challenge. The smiley head on the top of the banner is fantastic. Your painting skills are amazing!
ReplyDeletethanks Mariano. I have to admit that I hadn't noticed that with this angle of view it seems that they have beheaded the Joker :o)
