OMFG! What a day. This was one of those where I thought I was so close to being finished, only to find glaring errors or omissions hold me back. But now they're done.
I added these two C02 Wizards, Mazda and Holbon Toddlebrew to add a fun diversion to batch painting. I have no idea how much a wizard costs right now, and I don't care. LOOK AT THEM!
My photos are shit as well, but let's not dwell on that.
Yes that is a calculator on his belt. Probably a TI-80.
I put stars and a crescent moon on Holbon because that just screams Wizard.
The Baron is leading some retainers, 33 points for him. 81 points for the other 9 men. I armed them with light armor, shields and spears.
My experience against Bretonnians tells me this is the most common view of them on the battlefield.
The second rank. A shout out to my man blue for helping me fill out this unit.
I'm surprised only one soldier has a bottle hanging from his belt.
The Crossbowmen are worth 80 points. I only gave them a Crossbow and Hand Weapon. This unit is a mix of Games Workshop and Foundry figures.
The plastic crossbows for the GW figures seem a tad over sized.
There were triumphs and tragedies with each and every figure, but overall I'm happy with how they turned out. Sorry for the shit photography, but I just needed to call these done.
Thanks for looking.
Thank you in advance for your comments. ;) I'm mainly just commenting here to get email updates.
ReplyDeleteLovely looking unit mate. The red and white baron really catches your eye amongst the yellow and blue infantry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mustafa, I got the idea from the old White Dwarf article.
DeleteNice job! and the two wizards are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea, they were a fun distraction from batch painting.
DeleteThese loo fantastic Sean. Those wizards are ace, and the common troops look the part. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Airborne, and my pictures have my trademark list to port.
Deletei really like the consistent color scheme. blue and yellow are not easy colors to paint
ReplyDeleteThanks Anthony, the blue I have goes on well but the yellow was challenging. I ended up laying down an orange brown underneath.
DeleteThat’s how I always plan to do yellow, but rarely end up using it on my figs. It’s a very unforgiving color
DeleteGreat looking unit
ReplyDeleteThank you Neil.
DeleteLovely work!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Nathan.
DeleteVery nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Arjen, I'm sorry I missed your comment at the time.
DeleteLooking great! I love 3rd/4th edition Bretonnians.
ReplyDeleteThanks Orcyboy, I really like the way they ended up. Sorry I missed your comment.
DeleteLooks good. Photo's don't look so bad to me. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThank you Kiwi, they are just a little washed out and crooked for my taste. Sorry to take so long to respond.
DeleteLovely work Sean! Great choice of wizards too. Don't see either of those painted too often
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed, I honestly don't remember when exactly I bought the wizards, but it was back in the day. I apologize for not responding sooner.
DeleteLove that baron. Great to see him painted.
ReplyDeleteInterested to know what yellows you're using. I've never found one suitable in terms of colour and translucency to rock out an army sized project with since the heady days of Sunburst Yellow.
Thanks Curis, I am using Reaper paints at the moment. They are a tad thin and coverage can be an issue. 9007 Marigold Yellow and 9008 Sun Yellow is what I used. I'm very sorry to not have answered sooner, not sure why I didn't see your comment.
